Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Still interrogating, still interrogating

The scene quieted down slightly.

Claytina looked at Mino, unsure of what to say for a moment.

Mino reacted, his expression becoming serious: "So that's how it is. Not allowing me to eat... is that also part of your interrogation?"

Claytina was silent for a moment before forcing a smile.

"On the contrary, Mino, as long as you reveal the information we want, we will offer you the most delicious food."

Mino raised his eyebrows, "What do you want?"

"The opening spell for the Magic Tower's notes, managed by Chief Rak, you should know it, right?"

The Round Tower notes... Mino felt the deep malice of the Demon Clan.

The notes in the hands of the Great Mage Rak were naturally not ordinary notes; they recorded the core magic research of successive Chiefs of the Round Tower. More importantly, the activation methods for many functions of the Magic Tower could only be found as opening keys within them.

And for such important notes, only a handful of people naturally knew the password to unlock the seal.

Mino, deeply trusted by Chief Rak, was no exception.

"If it were just ordinary information, that would be one thing. Chief Rak is both a teacher and a friend to me. I would never reveal secrets related to the Magic Tower like this."

Mino tilted his head back dismissively.

"As expected..." Claytina was not surprised at all.

The holy sword Alto Tai also hummed: "Despicable Demon Clan, I advise you not to underestimate the indomitable will of my Lord. Even if you were to slice my Lord into a thousand pieces, my Lord would never speak."

"Alto Tai, please be quiet."

Mino's spine softened slightly upon hearing Alto Tai's description of being sliced into a thousand pieces. He cautiously observed Claytina's hands, hoping to see the same bottle of essential oil as in the last interrogation.

But unfortunately, those soft, jade-like hands were empty.

"Don't misunderstand, Hero." Noticing Mino's gaze, Claytina chuckled softly: "The one responsible for interrogating you this time isn't me, but..."

She clapped her hands, and a small figure emerged from behind her.

"It's you." Mino immediately recognized this Demon.

A small humanoid figure appeared in the corner of the cell, its skin as pale and fragile as porcelain, its cheeks slightly sunken, and its grey-green eyes as vacant as if covered by a thin mist, its face devoid of expression.

This didn't appear terrifying; instead, it had a strange cuteness, only its movements were somewhat stiff and clumsy, making it clear it wasn't Human.

It was a small zombie wearing an old, elegant black maid dress.

"Ninth Demon, Zombie Maid, Fim."

Fim raised her head, her vacant eyes looking at Mino, the maid hat on her head slightly askew.

"Please, advise." Fim's voice carried a mechanical flatness, but Mino dared not underestimate this maid.

On the battlefield, her fighting posture seemed impervious to pain, constantly causing him trouble with a wound-for-wound style, making her an extremely tricky opponent.

"No matter how tricky the enemy is, my answer won't change. I will not yield to your interrogation. If you have the guts, come and try."

Mino gained confidence. He also didn't think an emotionally detached zombie could come up with very cruel interrogation techniques.

"Okay... then, I, will begin." Fim's voice was slow.

[Ding—Interrogation Mission has been generated]

As the words fell, the mission entered Mino's mind.

[Phase One Mission: Accept the interrogation of the Ninth Demon Fim]

[Reward: A secret item of a Demon Army cadre]

"Couldn't ask for more." Mino's fighting spirit ignited.

While these Demons were racking their brains to extract information from him, they would never guess that their secrets would also fall into his hands, and this would be the first step for Humans to defeat the Demon Clan!

"My Lord, you must be careful. I will cheer you on from the side!" The holy sword emitted a loud sound.

Mino paused, slowly turned his head, and looked at the holy sword huddled in the corner: "Can you be of any use?"

Claytina covered her mouth and chuckled softly, "Then, let you see Fim's interrogation methods."

She stepped aside, and only then did Mino see the execution platform with burning red coals behind her.

Indeed, they were finally getting serious, Mino became solemn.

Then, he saw Fim, dressed in a maid outfit, walk step by step to the edge of the "execution platform" and, with a little effort, place a heavy black iron pot on it.

Huh?

This style, why does it feel a bit off?

Mino continued to observe cautiously, until Fim carefully tied an apron embroidered with cute rabbit patterns around herself, only then did he suddenly realize.

"This is... cooking?"

"Hmm, mm." Fim nodded very seriously, "As long as, I make delicious, food."

"The Hero, will... reveal the information, then."

"Fim, is a bit, afraid of fire."

"But, will try hard."

The intermittent words entered his ears, Mino's body trembled violently, and he couldn't help but step back a few paces.

The interrogation was actually... cooking?!

There was a moment of silence in the cell, and then the holy sword Alto Tai let out an unrestrained laugh.

"Hahaha! My Lord, look! What a foolish Demon!"

"How could they think of exchanging information representing Human loyalty for cheap food? Therefore, Demons are truly hopeless."

Fim listened to these words, standing still in a daze, looking at Claytina somewhat at a loss.

Her small figure appeared a little pitiful at this moment.

Mino looked at the stove fire in front of her, his eyes changing with a complex expression, as if recalling some distant memory.

And Alto Tai was still outputting:

"Let me tell you! Demons!"

"This one before you, the strongest Hero in Human history, Mino , in order to eliminate the wicked dragon entrenched in the Western Desert, once carried the lowest quality black rye bread and ate it for over a month without any supplies!

During this period, he did not, and disdained to eat any delicious food."

"Ah," Fim's vacant eyes seemed to flicker, and her voice had fluctuations for the first time.

Her hands, wearing lace-trimmed sleeves, clasped slightly in front of her chest, and she said timidly: "That, that must have been, very difficult."

Mino said nothing, his shoulders trembling slightly, as if tacitly acknowledging Alto Tai's praise.

"Hmph hmph! What's that?!" Alto Tai became more and more confident: "What's more, in the Sword Saint Trial, which was said to be hellish difficulty, my Lord relied solely on black rye bread to endure for a full year, outlasting all competitors, and successfully becoming the youngest Sword Saint in history."

When Claytina heard this, she finally couldn't help but retort: "He should be the Sword Saint with the best digestive system in history, right?"

This declaration seemed to strike Mino's heart, his throat swelling even more.

"So, simple zombie maid." Alto Tai looked down, making a contemptuous declaration.

"Your food will have no effect on my Lord."

Fim's eyes dimmed slightly, lowering her head like a child who had done something wrong.

At this moment, Mino's deep and complex voice sounded.

His voice trembled slightly:

"Actually, I've never felt happy eating black rye bread..."
