Karlotta was now more than ever confused at the situation, where were her parents? What about her brother? The guards meant to be stationed at the front gate where were they? The maids that were supposed to cook and clean for them, no why was her brother cooking and cleaning when?..
Wait why is she just rememberingand thinking about this now when this had started to happen a while back. Where had her mind went when these things occurred. What is happening right now?
Her mind erupted with questions that for the most part were not going to be answered for a while which she knew by heart. She was at this point questioning not just her memory but also her reality. Because she had never been this absent minded before, she was really attentive and payed lots of mind to small details.
Her mind snapped back into the car when the kids tugged at the sleeves of the simple but quite nice dress she had put on which was normalish looking to the untrained eye.
"Yes sophie and shawn"
"Karli Karli look we've reached the city isn't it wonderful"
"Shut it shawn karli IS from the city so she knows it's the city, still karli why do you seem to out of it eversince we last --"
The mother reprimanded the girl more asking her brother to shut up and asked her to be more polite and careful with her words seeing as how her brother was still a kid and could very well pick up her harshness.
"But--"
"Still that is no way to talk to your little brother" the father added supporting his dearest.
Karli on the other hand wasn't paying attention to the situation inside, seeing the city was an experience to be remembered for her. The buildings were large seemingly reaching into the stars above.
Residential and official areas filled the expansive land. Neon signs lit up even when the sun shined. Roads where both the only space that was free but also heavily occupied with traffic.
She stared out into awe as she looked at the city she had only heard from the regular maids. She had seen bits of it before from the old tv set her parents threw out, but that was years ago when she was much younger and less interested in the world that seemed to not be hers.
The traffic continued for a while the car going ahead a few meters then stopping then moving again just to be stopped when they reached their destination.
"Home sweet home" exclaimed the parents.
Their kids not as excited to return wanting their grand adventures to continue but everyone was tired so nobody objected.
. . .
Karlotta had been shown her temporary room which was a guestroom at the top of their house with blackout curtains that were closed, an attached bathroom, a twin sized bed, and a bedside table.
She quickly set down her bag and opened it to only now realize that she hadn't brought any clothes to change into. She went to the room below and went to the mother.
"Mr.s lauren umm sorry to be a bother but do you have extra clothes that i could change into?"
"Oh Karli it's you, I was going to come up to ask you but now that you're here, you can take these" the mother said as she handed over some garments oh and since you probably don't have innerwear you can just keep your old ones on the bed and I'll clean them for you"
"Thanks alot Mr.s" karli thanked lauren as she moved back to head towards her room.
"Also--"
"You don't have to be so formal just call me Asha since I'm not old enough to be called Mr.s"
Karlotta nodded as she proceeded her way upwards.
She got into her room and took off her clothes then went in the attached bathroom, where she saw no bathtub confused she fiddled around and eventually got the shower on and even warm up so, she slowly let go of herself into the warmth of her first bath in a while.
The water from the shower traced her warm skin and sunlight protruded from the locked window nearby the showerhead.
