Chapter 4 - A Person With Two Faces Is Simply Called Danger

"Okay, Yahiko. Then I guess, I would wait for sometime to make you mine." Izana smiled. Yahiko opened his eyes in his room, lying down on his bed. He was thinking how to get rid of that nasty bitch. Then Kanao came with a bowl of soup. Yep, Yahiko was still in his bed rest due to Kanao's strictness. He got up and took the bowl and nodded her to give a thanks.

"It's nothing. I can't see my friend suffering." she said with her pride. He looked at her with the poker face and simply started having the soup. But then he stopped. He was looking at the soup, like he clearly remembered someone as if that person had made the same soup for him but it was maybe years ago.

"How is it?" Kanao asked and Yahiko nodded affirmatively.

The soup Kanao made contained some mushrooms in it. Fortunately, Yahiko loved having mushrooms, whether it's in the soup or boiled.

Kanao smiled as she got her answer. But she looked at Yahiko who was kinda zoned out for a bit. He was glaring at the soup and blinked in morse code.

"The Kimamoto specialty"

Kanao started wondering why he said that.

Maybe, after having food made by my hand he's specializing it.

"Hey, can I ask you something? Where did you learn the code?" Kanao asked.

Hearing that, Yahiko put the bowl of soup aside and grabbed her hand. Kanao's face flushed red.

"My master taught me this code language to communicate with people. But I suppose that not everyone could use it."

"Hmm...Oh hey!" Kanao's mind snapped for some reason.

"I got to know that you achieved the passing numbers in the entrance exam and even you got 15-15-25 in the last test's each section which also was the passing marks. Did you do it intentionally?"

"No." He tapped. He told her that it could be a coincidence by the code. Kanao looked a bit confused for that answer though she knew it wasn't making any sense.

"Yeah. It could be." She nodded.

Then suddenly there was a DING-DONG. Kanabe, Izana, Mai and others were at the outside. Kanao walked to the door and opened it.

"Hey, sis. How's he doing?" Kanao entered saying it and others followed him. Kanao was like thin air for a second for them. She sighed and followed them.

As usual, Izana was giving a nice and innocent smile towards Yahiko. Yahiko clearly remembered that night. He once admitted to Kanao that he never forgets that occurrence that includes him.

Yahiko tapped on the table next to his bed and Kanao got confused about what he had just said to her.

"But they are our friends Yahiko." She asked. Yahiko sighed and tapped again.

"What do you mean you don't know?" Kanao's voice was mixed with sudden confusion and some sort of rage.

"Um, What's going on?" Kanabe asked looking at his twin sister.

"He's asking you guys to leave now." Kanao furrowed a bit.

"Well, if our presence is causing him problems then I guess we should leave. Bye, Yahiko. Hope you get well soon." Kanabe and others left.

"Yahiko, what's wrong with you?" she sat next to him. Yahiko grabbed her hand and started tapping on it.

"I need to rest. So, help me with it."

"And what do you expect me to do?" She raised and eye-brow.

Yahiko put his head on Kanao's lap suddenly and and closed his eyes. Kanao's face became red in an instant.

"What the heck on earth are you doing?- I get it now. You want me to put you on sleep."

Yahiko nodded. Kanao had no choice but to do so. Therefore, she started patting his head gently.

"Hey, aren't you felling embarrassed in this situation?" Kanao's voice was calm as she asked. Yahiko nodded in the negative.

"I never saw you smiling or showing any other emotion in any situation?"

It was true that nobody ever saw him smiling or even reacting like people do. Even in the night when Yahiko found out Izana's true-self and when she took his hand and forced it to press her breast, he didn't even flinched or blushed. In fact, his eyes were as usual like the always were.

"I never got any reason to do so. In fact, I was always called an emotionless monster in the middle school. I don't think things like you do. Still trying to be a normal person." He tapped.

"Then, I'll help you with that." she put an innocent smile on her face. But she saw that for Yahiko this news was also not enough to smile. Then she noticed that he was already asleep.

Then there was a dead silence. Kanao realized that she'd been with this mute for the very start of the Atom. She bent her head to his face and observed it closely. But then she realized that her face was too close and her face went red.

What is he? Kanao thought, glaring on Yahiko's milk white face. The way he uses the code so fast and smoothly, sometimes I don't also get it and I have to guess his words. But he doesn't even mind it at all though he knows it. He is something else. Something that I can't ignore. His face, it's so clean but his hands, they are so hard. I can't even spend an entire day without him now. I get a feeling like I always want to be with him. But, why is that? What's this weird feeling that I feel when we both are too close to be ignored? He's so calm, even in every situation. I'm feeling so warm when I'm touching him. Why?

Kanao's eyes glowed as she thought even more. They were almost teary.

Am I starting to like him? Am I in love with him? Really? Is it really love that I feel?

She blushed so much thinking these that her full face flushed to crimson-red instantly. But she calmed herself and breathed deeply for a second and looked at Yahiko's face. His face at this moment, almost looked like he was in deep sleep. Kanao smiled and kissed Yahiko's forehead.

I guess, I do love him. He's special for me now. I can't leave his sight, not for once.

Kanao's face was getting it's genuine color from red. Her eyes shrunk because she was relaxed for her feelings towards Yahiko.

It wasn't like Kanao felt this only this time. Yep! She did felt it before though she never realized what it was.

It was when the first year students were coming to the Atom for the first time in the trains, not to mention that Kanao sat next to Yahiko. When he was glaring his dead eyes at everyone, Kanao noticed that someone was staring at her for a while. She thought that it hadn't been a day in her high school and someone had already fell in love with her. But when she asked Yahiko about those, he said that he was just looking at her book.

Two days later, Yahiko, after recovering up, went to the convenient store to buy some stuff. He had some groceries and some canned things in a plastic bag in his hand.

After exchanging the required Hp, he walked out of the store. As he looked forward, he noticed that the Sun was gonna go down. He saw a familiar face in front of him. It was Kanao who was waiting for Yahiko. She saw him walking towards her and put a pretty smile on her face.

"Hey there, Yahiko. Doing good?" She asked walking towards him.

"Why are you here?" He blinked the code and Kanao figured out that he was gonna say that.

"So rude! We agreed to make your emotions come up. So I'm doing my duty." Kanao left a sigh.

"Well I don't see that serious face of yours. You might be an imposter. Where's the Kanao that I know?"

"I'm me, idiot!" Kanao replied.

Kanao smiled again after that, which didn't seem to annoy Yahiko.

"Well, let's go then."

"Where to?"

"To my room."

Kanao blushed red when she heard what he said then. She sighed and nodded.

"Hey, guys." it was a familiar voice and the one which Yahiko hated so much. It was Izana the bitch. Both Yahiko and kanao turned to her.

"Hey, Izana. What are you doing here?"

Kanao asked and Izana walked forward towards Yahiko.

Of course Yahiko backed a little. Kanao didn't knew about that night.

"We're headed to Yahiko's room. Wanna come?"

Yahiko held Kanao's hand and tapped.

"Um, Izana, I'm sorry. I guess we can't bring you along."

"That's fine but what did he say?"

"He said that he would walk alone if it's you. I'm sorry for his rude behavior."

"It's okay. Bye, Yahiko, Kanao."

Sure Yahiko would do that if it really was her. But Kanao still couldn't figure out what was wrong with them. She looked at Yahiko and stared for a second.

"Let's go."

Yahiko nodded and they walked together.

A few moments later, the stooped at Yahiko's room's outside. He brought out the key and opened it. Then after opening the door Yahiko and Kanao entered the room. Yahiko put down the bag on his table and was about to sit down, but Kanao grabbed his arm and was looking at her toes. Yahiko looked at her and pulled out his retractable pen and pressed it's plunger n morse code.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"No, it's just- it's just something I want to know about you." her voice was calm but was mixed with a little bit of quietness. She looked at him with teary eyes. Her eyes were closed to be glowing. She saw even at this kind of almost embarrassing moment, Yahiko was calm, and he wasn't even blinking in the code.

"There is nothing to know about me." He clicked. "leave my arm."

"No!" she cried. "I don't want to." Her faced flushed red at this moment.

"I don't get it."

Yahiko was expecting a proper explanation for her behavior. But she was sad and worried for something. They sat down on his bed. Yahiko stared at her eyes and was trying to search deep down for answers. Kanao took a deep breath and held Yahiko's hand tighter.

"Yahiko, I want to tell you something," said Kanao. "You see, I've never had friends before, ever. My brother was always the one to support me. Also there was another person, my sister, Kaori."

Yahiko's eyes glowed a little from dead. He had never heard that name from Kanao.

"But right now, she might not be alive anymore. We lost her sight years ago. We never got to know where she went or was being taken." she continued. Then she smiled and looked at Yahiko with her crimson red teary eyes. "Besides them, there is only one person whom I'd want to put my faith in. Whom I want to be as my first friend. You, Yahiko Matsushiba."

Yahiko thought that something like this might he'd hear form her, but he wasn't expecting it with a genuine smile. Kanao who never showed her true emotions that might weaken her from her perspective was never expected to let her guard down. But she was full off guard this time. If only there was an assassination or an ambush or any other sneak attack, she might get destroyed whether it's someone she'd challenge or her dearest one such as Yahiko himself. But Yahiko probably wasn't thinking that stuff.

"Will you stay with me by my side, Yahiko? Can I put my faith in you?"

Yahiko knew that she was speaking from her heart. Plus, he needed someone to raise up his emotions. So, he nodded affirmatively. Having the answer in her favor Kanao smiled and hugged him.

"Thank you, Yahiko." Yahiko pat her head. She looked at his poker face which probably had zero emotions in it.

"Really you wanna be my closest friend? You don't seem to have any feelings about that."

"Don't worry about that. My face has always been dead like this." he clicked the plunger of his pen.

Then she hugged him more tightly, Yahiko clicked his pen saying ouch.

Kanao had left to her room and was laying down in her bed. She imagined a vague picture of her sister Kaori Kimamoto whom she thought dead as it had been seven and a half year. She looked like same as Kanao but she had yellowish-blue eyes. Kanao had imagined also a black colored ribbon with yellow and red border in her hair. Kanao shred tears in agony.

Sister, it went just right. she thought. I guess making friends ain't that hard. she smiled and closed her eyes to sleep.

"You were pretty close with her, Yahiko." Izana said as she walked along with Yahiko on the street of the riverside of Eritia in the night. Yahiko just simply sighed in response.

"If you're in love with her then forget about it. You are only mine. In any case, why do you want this relationship in the month of May? Whatever. After that, you'll be mine, Yahiko."

Yahiko seemed pretty careless about what she was saying. He was just staring at the stars in the sky. His eyes never felt something what they were then. Then he heard a voice from his memories.

When we will be out of the island, I want to watch the sky in the night full of stars with you.

"Say something at least. I mean, write something at least." Izana snapped. He wrote something on his notepad and gave it to Izana.

"You really are the worst person that people will ever know." Izana read. She punch on his back but Yahiko didn't gave a fuck or any other reaction in response.
