Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

In fact, Rimo chose to tell Uvogin about his abilities after careful consideration.

First of all, Rimo had never been someone who could endure hardship for long.

Even though Machi clearly tried her best to clean the place, the foundation of the house was still there. No matter how much effort was put into tidying it up, the broken walls, cracked floor, and cold air of Meteor City could not be changed by effort alone.

Although sleeping next to Machi last night sounded exciting on the surface, the reality was far from pleasant.

Machi's mattress was hard like a wooden board. Rimo woke up with a sore back and stiff shoulders. That single night made him deeply understand how harsh the living conditions in Meteor City truly were.

This was the reality of Meteor City. No matter how much they scavenged, exchanged, or robbed, Rimo did not believe this environment could ever meet the standard he had in mind.

If Rimo wanted to use his abilities to improve his quality of life, Uvogin and the others were not fools.

Modern items that clearly did not belong to Meteor City would appear one after another. There was no way to hide it.

Unless Rimo chose to leave Uvogin's group and live alone.

But that option brought another serious problem.

Not to mention his future interest in Machi, and the fact that Uvogin and Nobunaga were both future brigade-level monsters, it was hard to say whether Rimo had the strength to protect himself alone.

According to the original body's memories, Rimo only survived in Meteor City before by relying on wit and dirty tricks.

In terms of real combat strength, he might not even be able to defeat Machi, let alone monsters like Uvogin and Nobunaga.

Even though his self-healing ability could ensure he would not die easily, it did not mean he could not be captured.

Once restrained, his abnormal recovery would quickly be discovered.

At that point, he would become nothing more than a walking experiment subject, a living supply of organs and body parts, just like the Demi-Humans described in the original world's stories.

Just imagining such a scene made Rimo shiver.

If that really happened, death would be better.

In that case, immortality would not be a blessing, but a curse.

Therefore, living independently was absolutely impossible.

Since he could not leave, and still wanted to improve his life, the only option left was honesty.

On the other hand, based on Rimo's understanding of Uvogin, Nobunaga, and Machi from the original Hunter X Hunter story and their daily interactions, as long as they acknowledged someone as a companion, betrayal was impossible.

Uvogin endured Kurapika's chains and torture and was offered his life in exchange for information about the Phantom Troupe, yet his only response was, "Go to hell."

Nobunaga was no different. He even confronted Feitan for Gon, someone he had just acknowledged.

Machi valued the Troupe more than her own life.

From this alone, it was clear that Uvogin, Nobunaga, and Machi were all people who could be trusted.

As for whether they would recognize Rimo as one of their own, Rimo had full confidence in his judgment.

After all, he was a psychiatrist by profession.

In the following days, their entire base underwent earth-shaking changes.

Under Rimo's ability, modern furniture and daily necessities appeared one after another.

During these experiments, Rimo also discovered something important about his materialization ability.

Whether to call it idealistic or materialistic was hard to say.

As long as Rimo had touched an object before, he could materialize it.

He did not need to understand its internal structure. He only needed a strong mental desire and clear intention.

At the same time, he could not materialize things he had never encountered at all.

It was strange, contradictory, and extremely powerful.

In short, it was magical, and the final explanation belonged to the author.

Life quality finally reached Rimo's psychological expectation.

The only pity was that he no longer had a reason to sleep on the same mattress as Machi.

"Ah—so refreshing!"

Uvogin grabbed a can of beer from the refrigerator, collapsed onto the soft sofa, and drank it in one go.

Even though he could not read the strange characters on the bottle, the taste alone made him satisfied.

"Uvogin, you bastard, get your feet off me!"

When Uvogin flopped down, he accidentally kicked Nobunaga, who was carefully wiping the katana Rimo had materialized for him.

Rimo and Machi sat across from them. Rimo had just created a strawberry cake and was feeding it to Machi.

To be honest, Rimo had not expected Machi, who always looked cold and distant, to love sweets so much.

In the end, she was still a child.

Machi took the cake naturally. This was clearly not the first time.

"Rimo," Uvogin said suddenly, his eyes flashing with cruelty. "Allen's group has been getting restless. I heard they plan to unite with Karen and attack us. What do you think?"

During this time, as Rimo continued to create more things, his status in the group had risen sharply.

After all, benefits build loyalty.

Originally, the group's decisions were mostly handled by Machi, since Uvogin and Nobunaga were clearly not leadership material.

Machi herself never wanted to lead.

Having grown up without security, she preferred someone else to shoulder responsibility.

So she was happy to see this change.

Nobunaga stopped wiping his blade. Machi put down her spoon.

Both looked at Rimo.

Rimo twitched his mouth slightly and said calmly,

"If Allen's group is dishonest, then bury them. Let's see if they can still be dishonest underground."

Nearby groups had already noticed the drastic changes in their base.

Even if they feared Uvogin and Nobunaga, they could not ignore such temptation.

Allen led the largest group, with over thirty scavengers. Most were not Nen users.

He clearly believed numbers alone were enough.

"If Karen's group also interferes," Rimo added flatly, "wipe them out together."

Uvogin's excitement exploded.

"Hahaha! Perfect! I've been bored to death lately!"

He jumped up and rushed outside.

"Nobunaga, go with him," Rimo sighed. "Test your new sword."

Nobunaga's eyes lit up instantly.

"Coming!"

Watching them leave, Machi quietly continued eating her cake.

Rimo smiled softly and resumed feeding her.

For now, life in Meteor City felt almost… normal.
