All over the factory, people were already whispering. Men were no less enthusiastic about gossip than women. Stories were flying everywhere.
Christopher first went to Workshop Three but didn't find Andrew, so he headed to the clinic instead.
Just as he reached the door, he saw the two of them arguing.
Andrew's face was dark as he snapped, "What am I supposed to do? I've been suspended!"
On his way in that morning, everyone had looked at him strangely. Some had even made crude jokes. Then he saw his name on the notice board. A suspension order.
His heart had sunk.
He rushed to find Vanessa for answers.
But instead of panic, she looked strangely calm.
"What can I do?" Vanessa replied coldly. "Go find the factory manager."
"I already did!" Andrew grabbed her arm, furious. "You have to think of something! Thea came home this morning and demanded a divorce!"
Christopher coughed. "Both of you, come with me. Deputy Director Ryan wants to see you."
They both froze.
