Back in the private room, Clifford poured black tea for Ryan and pushed the cup over.
"I didn't expect you to explode like that today," he said. "You haven't repaired machines personally in a long time."
"It surprised me, too," Clifford then admitted frankly. "Next time I visit another factory, I'll bring you along. Let them see we still have real talent here."
Ryan accepted the tea and nodded. "I'll do my best. Actually, Sir, I came to see you because I have something to discuss."
"Oh?" Clifford raised an eyebrow. "Important enough to come in person?"
"My wife came up with an idea, though," Ryan said evenly. "It was something that will definitely improve the lives of the workers' families."
Clifford had just taken a sip of tea when he choked, coughing violently. "What did you say? Improve their lives definitely, and not just might? Explain it in detail."
Ryan laid out Mary's plan in simple terms, from greenhouse vegetables to off-season production and factory-managed sales.
