Christopher happened to see him carrying the plant and was momentarily stunned.
"Deputy Director, do you need me to water that for you?"
"No need," Ryan replied calmly. "Just focus on your work. I wasn't around yesterday. Anything unusual happen?"
"Nothing major. Ethan came looking for you, but I told him you were out."
Ryan nodded. "Tell him to come see me at noon. I have something to discuss with him."
"Understood."
Ryan returned to his office, placed the potted plant on the windowsill, and opened the registration list. Tomorrow, they would officially leave the factory. It would also be the day he sent the new recruits into the mountains for training.
He hoped at least a few capable people would emerge from this batch.

Back in the mindscape, Cleo stretched lazily and let out a satisfied burp.
"Master, I'm going to sleep for a while. Call me if you need anything."
