Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 — Prologue: The Boy Without Power

Year 2050 — Nexara

The city was burning.

Explosions tore through Nexara's skyline, ripping the night apart in violent flashes of red and gold. Shockwaves rolled through the streets as awakened heroes clashed with an enemy the world feared to even name.

Buildings collapsed like paper.

Glass rained down in glittering storms.

Sirens screamed until their voices broke.

Smoke choked the air. Heat warped vision. The city—once a symbol of progress—had become a battlefield.

And in the center of the ruined streets—

a single boy stood alone.

No aura surrounded him.

No glowing Nexas flared to life.

No divine power answered his call.

Only a cracked combat suit clung to his body, fractured and smoking, plates barely holding together. Wires sparked beneath torn armor. His breathing was ragged.

Yet his stance did not waver.

Raze Arcwell.

The Nexasless Arcwell.

Across from him, standing atop collapsing rubble, was a man wrapped in shifting darkness. The air around him twisted unnaturally, as though reality itself bent away in silent fear.

A blindfold covered his eyes.

And yet—Raze felt seen more clearly than ever before.

"So," the man said, voice calm, amused, echoing through the shattered city,

"you've come this far… without a Nexas."

Raze steadied his breathing. Pain screamed through every muscle as he tightened his grip on a half-broken baton. Blood trickled beneath his glove.

"I don't need a Nexas," he replied quietly,

"to stand against people like you."

A faint pulse of blue-white light crawled across his suit.

Abyss radiation.

The rubble beneath his boots cracked.

The man tilted his head slightly, intrigued.

"Then show me, Raze Arcwell," he said softly.

"Show me how high a Nexasless human can climb."

The ground split open.

Light and shadow collided.

And the world witnessed the moment a boy born with nothing—

challenged the strongest villain alive.

Two Years Earlier — Year 2048

This is where the story truly begins.

Fraxen was a world ruled by power.

Cities gleamed brighter than the constellations above them, towers of glass and steel fueled by Nexas-powered technology. Trains floated without tracks. Streets repaired themselves overnight. Wounds healed with a single touch.

Power was everywhere.

One in four children awakened a Nexas—

a supernatural ability capable of shaping destiny itself.

Lightning users scorched the sky.

Metal shifters bent steel like clay.

Stone breakers shattered mountains.

Healers defied death itself.

Shadow walkers slipped through places light could not reach.

Heroes rose.

Villains rebelled.

And the strong decided the rules.

In the nation of Vornis, within the radiant city of Nexara, one name stood above all others.

The Arcwell Family.

A dynasty of brilliance.

A lineage of power.

A symbol spoken with awe—and envy.

Roland Arcwell — a strategic genius shaping global industries and defense networks.

Rose Arcwell — a healer whose touch saved lives even medicine could not.

Luna Arcwell — a prodigy of light, so fast she seemed to vanish mid-step.

Lily Arcwell — the youngest awakened genius ever recorded.

A flawless family.

A legendary family.

Except… one.

Raze Arcwell — the boy born without a Nexas.

In a world built on power, he was the Arcwell anomaly.

The powerless heir.

The outlier.

The whispered disappointment hidden behind polite smiles.

"How can an Arcwell be Nexasless?"

"What a shame…"

"What a waste…"

Raze heard everything.

He heard it in quiet conversations that stopped when he entered rooms.

In the careful pauses before people said his name.

In the way expectations were never placed on him.

But the Arcwell home was different.

His mother held him like he was priceless, as though no force in the world could diminish his worth.

His father taught him discipline and strategy, speaking to him not as a failure—but as a future leader.

Lily adored him endlessly, clinging to him as if he were her hero.

And Luna—

Luna glared at anyone who mocked him until they looked away.

Raze was not unloved.

But love could not silence ambition.

Every night, the neon lights of Nexara reflected in his eyes as he watched heroes on the news—saving cities, stopping disasters, standing where ordinary people could not.

And quietly, he made a promise.

If Luna becomes a hero…

I will stand beside her.

Power or not, I refuse to be left behind.

So he trained.

Martial arts until his knuckles bled.

Strength conditioning until his muscles tore.

Academics until his pencil snapped.

Combat strategy until his mind burned.

If he could not awaken a Nexas—

then he would forge his own weapon.

A body that wouldn't break.

A mind that wouldn't bow.

A will that wouldn't surrender.

The Road to Lionel Academy

"The Arcwell family has always been a peaceful and lovely family"

But even the Arcwell estate had seen many arguments.

None louder than this, The argument Raze had with his parents. When he asked them to allow him to attend the Lionel Academy.

"Raze," Rose whispered, brushing his hair aside,

"Lionel Academy isn't a school. It's a battlefield."

"Then I'll walk in stronger than they expect," he replied without hesitation.

Roland placed a steady hand on his shoulder.

"You don't need to prove yourself to the world, to me you will always be a son I'm proud of"

Raze replied "But I need to prove it to myself."

Silence filled the room.

Finally—

"…Alright," Roland said.

"If this is your path, we won't stop you."

But the hardest battle wasn't against his parents.

It was against her.

Luna Arcwell didn't shout.

She simply stood there—composed, powerful, terrifying.

"Do you know what you're asking for?" she asked quietly.

"Yes."

"No," Luna said. "You don't."

She looked away, jaw tightening.

"I've seen students with weaker Nexas, crushed, Humiliated, Broken.

some even treated me harshly, envious of my power… what will they do to someone with no Nexas at all?"

Raze stepped closer.

"Because this is the only road forward."

Luna froze. (Thinking that he could have simply inherited our father's company after studying in a normal university, but he chose the hardest path)

Then she pressed her forehead against his.

"If anyone hurts you," she whispered,

"I'll tear down the academy."

After that she gave him permission to apply for the Lionel Academy.

Entrance Exam Day

Today Raze came to attend the entrance exam.

Lionel Academy tested many things. Including Physical ability, combat ability and critical thinking.

But the entrance exam tested only one.

Theory. (other abilities were tested later)

And that was Raze's battlefield.

Strategy.

Psychology.

History.

Tactical simulations.

A week later,

When the results were posted—

1st Place — Raze Arcwell (100%)

The whispers exploded.

"Rigged."

"Cheater."

"Arcwell privilege."

But they never said it too loudly.

Because Luna Arcwell had walked these halls.

and like that the days went by,

The Declaration

And the academy opening day for the freshmen finally came,

Every students entered the auditorium one by one, where the freshmen orientation is going to be held.

After everyone were seated, A teacher addressed about the academy on the stage and then.

The hall fell silent when his name was called.

"Raze Arcwell. Valedictorian of the incoming first-year class."

(Since he is the top scorer on the entrance exam)

Gasps rippled through the auditorium.

Shock.

Disbelief.

Thinly veiled irritation.

Raze stepped onto the stage.

Thousands of eyes locked onto him at once.

His palms trembled.

So he clenched them into fists and lifted his chin.

"I know what you're thinking," he began.

"You're wondering how someone like me is standing here."

The murmurs quieted.

"You're wondering why a boy without a Nexas was allowed into Lionel Academy."

Silence spread.

"You think I don't belong.

That without a Nexas… I'm already defeated."

Raze placed a hand over his heart.

"I was born without power in a world that worships it."

"I've been pitied.

Whispered about.

Dismissed before I ever spoke."

"But listen carefully."

"Power does not make a hero."

"Strength does not decide worth.

Abilities do not define resolve."

"I trained when others slept.

I studied when others relied on talent.

I endured when others were carried by their Nexas."

"And I am still standing."

"So I won't ask you to believe in me."

"All I ask… is that you watch."

"With or without a Nexas,

I will carve my place into this academy."

"And one day—into this world."

"I am Raze Arcwell.

and yes, I am Nexasless.

But still, I will become a hero."

The academy had just been warned.

A storm had entered its gates.

Some students were surprised, some were in awe, and some were curios to see what he can achieve in this academy without a Nexas.

(This is a story of a boy, who was born without a Nexas, In a world ruled by it, and how he will reach the top by sheer will and determination.)
