Chapter 14 - 14: Returning to the country of Clover.

A month has passed since Wendy left the Land of the Rising Sun.

And it's already March; Wendy is now 9 years old.

Her appearance hasn't changed much.

After running from the Land of the Rising Sun for 3 days with occasional breaks to recover her magic power and sleep,

Wendy has been searching for Yami for a month, albeit with little enthusiasm.

In the last few days, Wendy has heard that the current Wizard King, Conrad Leto, has rebelled against the Kingdom and that a new Wizard King will be chosen.

According to the original story, the next Wizard King will be Julius Novachrono, the current captain of the Gray Deer.

According to recent information, in 15 days Julius Novachrono will be promoted to Wizard King.

"Sigh. I think I should stop wasting time," I think as I walk through the streets of the royal capital.

"If I remember correctly, when Julius Novachrono becomes Wizard King, only a few days later he will promote William Vangeance and Yami Sukehiro to captains of the Magic Knights."

"After that, Captain Yami will spend his time running all over the Clover Kingdom fighting, getting stronger, and breaking his limits."

"And along the way, he'll recruit some subordinates."

"If I don't hurry, it will take me even longer to find him."

As I walk to the Magic Knights Headquarters in the Royal Capital of the Kingdom, everyone looks at me a little curiously because of my strange clothes.

After all, I'm still wearing the sleeveless, backless coded shihakusho.

Although I'm wearing a regular white haori, the different clothing is quite striking.

Besides, I'm carrying a rather long box, about 115 cm long.

A few minutes later I arrive at my destination.

"I don't think they'll let me into a place like this," I say aloud as I look at a huge castle.

Without much hope, I approach some Magic Knights who are at the gate.

"Excuse me," I say as the two of them look at me. "What are you looking for, girl? Are you lost or do you need help?" one of the magic knights asks me curiously.

'Wow, these magic knights aren't as arrogant as I thought they would be. They're probably commoners like me, that explains why they're not arrogant.'

"Well, I wanted to ask where I can post requests for the magic knights. I don't know where the office is," I say respectfully and in a natural tone to the two magic knights.

"Well, girl, you just have to go to that building over there," the magic knight says, pointing to a brown building where there's a small line of people about 100 meters away from where we are.

"And when you get there, you can post a mission, and a magic knight from one of the different magic knight orders will take it."

"Thank you very much, have a good rest of your day," I say as I turn around and head towards the mission building.

As I turn around, my pleasant and curious expression returns to its typical haughty and disdainful look for a few seconds.

Most of the time I no longer have an arrogant, sadistic, and confident smile, after I learned to use ki.

I don't know why, but that's good. The only thing is that my expression occasionally becomes confident, and my eyes get a touch of arrogance when I'm bored.

Only 2 minutes later I arrive at my destination.

I get in line to wait my turn.

There are about 5 people in front of me, actually, that's not many people at all.

Only 15 minutes later it was my turn.

Upon reaching the counter, the person in charge speaks.

"Good morning, what mission would you like to commission?" their voice is routine and monotonous.

"I want to know if it's possible to commission a mission for a specific magic knight," my voice is still very polite.

"Yes, you can choose a specific magic knight."

"I want to commission an escort mission for Magic Knight Yami Sukehiro of the Gray Deer."

"I understand, please tell me the address of the person to be escorted."

"At the Star Hotel on Commercial Street." "Understood, name of the person to be escorted."

"Wendy Belserion."

"Escort destination."

"To the town of..."

"When is the escort needed?"

"If possible, this afternoon."

"If you want it for this afternoon, the fee will increase."

"That's fine, I can pay it."

Some time later.

I leave the mission assignment office.

I head to the shopping street of the royal capital.

As I walk, I pass a shop.

Looking through the window, I see a silver armor on display.

"Who the hell wears armor in a world where magic is commonplace?"

"Only someone with armor magic would buy it."

I don't pay much attention to it and keep walking.

Shortly after, I buy a bag of red apples from a street vendor.

*Crunch.*

"Quite sweet," I say as I bite into one of the apples.

"Lately, I've been much hungrier than usual."

'Is it because I'm growing, or because my physique is gradually transforming into that of a dragon?' I think.

'After all, my magic is Sky Dragon Slayer magic, not wind magic.'

'He's more like Laxus from Fairy Tail; he has Lightning Dragon Slayer magic, but he mostly uses regular lightning magic most of the time.'

'That's why his body doesn't transform into a dragon quickly.'

'Although I don't have anything to worry about, after all, inside my body I felt mana that creates antibodies for Dragon Slayer magic.'

'I could feel this special magic when I learned ki.'

'And when I tried to verify what it was, I discovered that it's more like a cluster of mana without consciousness.'

'More similar to the residual magic that Igneel left in Natsu's body.'

Later...

At the entrance of the Star Hotel.

Wendy is sitting outside the hotel.

She's been here for two hours.

After all, she's waiting for Yami.

A few moments later, I see a man in a black robe, dressed casually, with a katana at his waist.

Without hesitation, I stand up and head towards Yami.

"Hello, Yami," my voice is cheerful and enthusiastic.

"Huh? Those clothes, tell me, girl, where did you get those clothes?" Yami's expression is quite confused.

"I got them in your country, Mr. Yami, the Hino country," I say.

Yami is a little confused.

After all, when Yami arrived in the Clover Kingdom, he tried to return to the Sun Country, but he couldn't find a way back.

"How did you end up in the Hino country?" Yami asked.

"I'll tell you on the way," I say as I walk.

Yami follows me.

"I went on a journey in search of a solution for my younger brother who doesn't possess magic power." "I know that in the Clover Kingdom everything is based on magical power."

"So I didn't have much hope in this country."

"So I stole a small sailboat and went out to sea hoping to find something that could help my brother."

"A few days later, a storm hit me."

"Being my first time on a boat in the middle of a storm, I panicked and sank."

"The next day I came out of the water and saw land quite far away."

"So I decided to go in that direction, hoping I wasn't going back the way I came."

"But no matter how much I ran, I didn't feel like I was getting any closer."

"When I needed to stop and rest, a magical sea beast fought with me and suddenly threw a giant column of water at me, and I fainted."

"When I regained consciousness, I was already on a beach in the Hino country," he finished saying cheerfully.

'Yami is the first cool person I've met, how great,' I think.

'The girl doesn't seem to be lying,' Yami thinks.

"I don't understand what you mean by running towards the land, wouldn't it be swimming?" Yami says.

"No, it's running."

I say as we leave the royal capital.

"And how long did you stay in the Hino country?"

"Only 10 months."

"And how did you get back? After all, Hino is quite far away."

"I came running," I say without hesitation.

"Do you want to know how I came running?" I say smiling.

"It's not necessary," Yami replies apathetically.

After all, he's quite discriminated against in this country.

"It doesn't matter, I'll show you anyway."

With fluid movements, I take off the box where I keep my katanas and put it on the ground.

I take off my haori, leaving my back and arms exposed.

"Please, hold this for me," I say as I give the haori to Yami. I started running and jumped, and with a step in mid-air, I created a thin platform of translucent mana beneath me and began to move away, about 20 meters.

And with a burst of mana, I activated Mukyu Shunko.

Suddenly, the air around her became dense, unbearable. A whirlwind of greenish-white energy erupted from her back. It was a contained storm of magical power that spun frantically, turning her arms and legs into weapons of pure destruction.

"Mukyu Shunko," I said in a serious voice.

With a single step, I suddenly appeared next to Yami with a speed imperceptible to humans.

'How fast, if I hadn't used my ki to detect her, I wouldn't even have noticed when she arrived,' Yami thought, a little surprised.

The wind disappeared from my body, deactivating Mukyu Shunko.

"What did you think, Mr. Yami? Aren't I amazing?"

"I developed this technique myself," I said proudly.

"That's quite interesting, it seems you're a genius in magic and combat."

"Well, I don't think I'm that great," I said as I took the haori from Yami's hands.

"Although, as a side effect, when using this technique, which I called [Shunko],"

"By releasing so much magical power, the sleeves and back tear."

"But luckily I found a solution, I had this specially coded shihakusho made by a tailor in the country of Hino," I said as I put on the haori and tied it to my waist.

I crouched down and opened the wooden box.

I took out my slightly short katana and put it on my lower back.

Then I closed the box and offered it to Yami.

"Girl, what is this?" Yami said without taking the box.

"Mr. Ryuya Ryudo gave this to me; he said I should give it to you because you might need it."

"And there's also a letter inside the box."

"Yeah, so Ryu sent this to me with a little brat," Yami says as she takes the box in her hand.

"How did Ryu know he was in the Clover Kingdom?" Yami asked curiously.

We continued on our way while I told him about the pandemic that was killing everyone with little magical power and how Ryuya had to sacrifice all of his magic to obtain the Tengentsu,

an all-seeing eye, just to find a rare flower to save the village from the pandemic.

And that's how we continued until I ran out of things to talk about with Yami.
