Chapter 1:
She counted the money on the table slowly, as if moving too fast would make it disappear. The fan above her head struggled against the heat, filling the room with a tired hum. She had prayed for a miracle so many times that the word had lost its meaning, yet she still waited — because waiting felt easier than accepting the truth.
Hunger had become familiar. Bills piled up on the table, untouched. Asking for help felt heavier than the hunger itself. So she waited, hoping something good would happen, even when every day looked exactly the same.
But miracles never came the way she imagined. One evening, as the sun disappeared behind the broken window, she realized that waiting had only made her weaker. Not because she lacked faith, but because faith without action left her empty.
That night, she made a quiet decision. If nothing was going to change, then she would have to change it herself.
