"She... she just bit the class president on the neck! " Celest yelled as she rushed to pull off Raim who had pinned Kisagi to the ground.
I looked to my right through the window towards the school field down below avoiding the scene unfolding in the front of the class.
" Who the hell went to call the nurse? Someone else go get her here quick!" Marii
Yelled at two boys standing at the door staring at the spectacle in awe. She and Celest were holding the barely conscious Raim, who was breathing heavily, face flushed red and barely standing.
" You think he's gonna die? "a stupid question dripping with sarcasm came from my friend sitted beside me.
A glanced at the entertained expression plastered on Shinazaki's face as he stared at the circus act unfolding.
A few guys had gone to check on Kisagi who was lying on the floor, face also flushed red and breathing heavily. A big, swollen bite mark scarring the back of his neck. He was groaning in what seemed to be a mix of pain and unquenched pleasure.
"of course, he's not gonna die, none of them are," this wasn't that kind of outbreak, though, I sometimes wish it was a zombie virus instead.
Five moths ago at the beginning of 2032 the whole world turned inside out with the sudden outbreak of the ABO virus. It changed the course of the world like no other disease, virus or condition ever had.
Men became women and women became men, okay they were doing that before, but this was different.
The first two months were nothing short of indescribable hell as fear, panic and shock spread all over. People started encountering sudden spikes of pain leading to hospitals flooding with patients, over night, every night.
However, the true horror begun when the three week time frame passed and after enduring all that pain, people would wake up with what most have come to refer to as a "late growth spurt."
After undergoing multiple scans, it was without a doubt proven that some men had developed wombs and some women had begun developing sperm cells. Referring to this as a "growth spurt" does not do this madness justice.
Multiple health organisations came together to try and calm the masses but even the most brilliant of scientific minds didn't have a clue of what was going on.
As such large scale research began with new information being spread to the people with each new development. Basically we could all be evolving into aliens and we wouldn't even know until it's too late.
"Damn, this is the third time, today!" said Shin as he pulled out his phone to take a picture of the scene before the nurse entered_ I don't know, twenty minutes too late_ asking for some volunteers to carry Raim and Kisagi to the infirmary.
"Two stars, lousy customer service, the damage is already done," said shin in a mocking tone as he scrolled through his phone.
I leaned back in my seat, glancing around the class at all the small groups formed to break down the incident and most likely all the others that had occurred that day."Normally I'd agree with you, but honestly, I think the nurse is also overwhelmed, the infirmary is probably full, I mean apart from the people going berserk, there are also still those with normal illnesses and injuries that need to be checked on."
"Going berserk? Oh please, all they wanna do is have some fun," said shin as he made a circle with his thumb and finger and using his other hand started imitating an erotic gesture. "Honestly it's just lack of self control being given a 'scientific pass', this whole thing about Alphas and Omegas, markings, heat and rut. It's like we're living in a fever dream. Oh well, it's not like any of these really affects us."
That's right, in this world gone crazy, somehow Shin and I remained ordinary. Those who developed female reproductive ability which was accompanied by heats were labeled as Omegas and this who developed male reproductive ability which was accompanied by ruts were called Alphas.
But oh, look at us, lucky through and through, not even an unknown virus could get us, we remained _ just as the majority of civilisation_ without any mutation and were labelled the Betas.
The bell to conclude the last class of the day rung. Most were probably going to check on their friends in the infirmary before the got taken away for short term isolation by The New Gene Administration Order.
"Yo, you think I can cash this in with the officers from The Order, I got a pretty good shot," said shin as he flung his bag onto his back, waving his phone in front of my face with a video of the moment Raim but Kisagi.
"I doubt it, they stopped paying for reports and photos and videos of incidents a few weeks ago, they said they have enough common traits and to only report unique cases," I said packing my books and slinging my bag onto my back.
"Stop bothering with something that won't even give you loose change, we have to get to the Caffè for our shift, rent is due in like two days," I nagged as we made our way to the door.
Yep, the world lost its mind but we still have bills to pay.
