Chapter 82 League Meeting!
Indigo Plateau.
Located at the border of the Kanto and Johto regions, it is also the headquarters of the highest Pokémon League organization that jointly governs the Indigo League and the Johto League of the two regions.
Inside the League, powerful trainers from various eras are displayed.
Photos of trainers who have won the Indigo League Championship are also placed in the League Hall.
Following the Champion's Path, one enters the Elite Four meeting room.
All four of the Kanto Elite Four are present.
The elderly man with white hair sitting on the central sofa is the League Chairman, Damaranchi.
Damaranchi looks around; these Elite Four members are not as docile as they appear. Shiba, the third Elite Four member, is shirtless, arms crossed, wearing a fighting outfit, not sitting in a chair, but quietly leaning against a corner, silent.
An elderly woman wearing a purple dress, with a somewhat gloomy expression, has her hands on her cane, seemingly waiting for some news.
Akiko, the second Elite Four member. Two seats remained vacant, meaning two Elite Four members were still absent. "The Silph Corporation headquarters in Goldenrod City was attacked by Team Rocket!"
Damaranqi pounded the table, his voice heavy with apprehension.
Goldenrod City.
The economic lifeline of the entire Kanto region.
The Silph Corporation headquarters—that was the face of the company. To have such a devastating impact in such a crucial location was tantamount to a terrorist attack. "Besides..." Damaranqi's tone hardened as he looked at Shiba, "that Zapdos at the unmanned power plant, aren't you going to explain?"
He wanted to hear Shiba's explanation; Shiba was present.
He knew better than anyone what had happened.
Shiba stood in the corner, silent, as if it had nothing to do with him.
This detached attitude left Damaranqi feeling helpless.
The Elite Four were nominally under the League's jurisdiction.
In reality... they were merely using each other.
"Team Rocket... should have been wiped out long ago."
"If this continues, the consequences will be severe,"
Agatha said quietly, her voice filled with disgust for Team Rocket.
Compared to those trainers with weak skills, Agatha hates those who don't know how to cherish things and wantonly destroy regional peace. Team Rocket clearly fits both of these criteria that Agatha hates.
"If…" Damaranchi remained silent for a long time.
The original intention of the League was to ensure peaceful coexistence between humans and Pokémon, without harming either side.
Team Rocket had indeed gone too far, considering the deaths of the people and Pokémon
at the abandoned power plant, and the wounded treated by the Elite Four.
These guys didn't care about the consequences; they only cared about the results.
Damaranchi had always upheld the League's principles, which was why he repeatedly gave Team Rocket chances despite their crimes. He believed that Team Rocket would become a great asset to Kanto in the future, not an obstacle.
"What you're worried about, when has Team Rocket ever cared about?" A cold, beautiful voice rang out, and a graceful figure slowly approached, her face filled with disgust for Team Rocket.
Lorelei, the fourth member of the Elite Four.
Team Rocket?!
They were nothing but a bunch of trash.
Countless Pokémon in the entire Kanto region had died because of Team Rocket's existence.
The hellish abandoned power plant was merely the tip of the iceberg of Team Rocket's crimes.
These criminals cannot be dealt with in the traditional way; a different approach must be taken to completely eradicate them, eliminating this scourge that has been rooted in the Kanto region for hundreds of years.
Damaranchi understood this perfectly well. He wanted to hear Lance's thoughts, so he looked around, not seeing the familiar figure, and asked with a hint of doubt, "Lance..."
The undisputed number one in the Kanto region.
Also the champion of the Johto League.
Lance.
"If you're looking for that guy, he left the League long ago. Judging by the time, he's already over Goldenrod City." Shiba, who hadn't spoken until now, opened his eyes and stared at Damaranchi, saying calmly.
None of the Kanto Elite Four didn't despise Team Rocket.
But if we're talking about the deepest level of hatred, the determination to wipe out the entire Team Rocket,
it's only Lance!
His handling of Team Rocket was truly reckless, regardless of consequences or even death!
"Who gave him permission to act on his own?"
Damaranchi should have expected this.
With Lance's personality, he wouldn't wait for a meeting.
That guy was the most unruly and harbored the deepest hatred for Team Rocket. The
person Damaranchi had been trying to keep under control was Lance.
In the end, that guy still acted on his own and left the League headquarters.
Meanwhile,
in the skies above Goldenrod City,
a Dragonite swept across the Silver Corporation headquarters building.
On the back of that Dragonite stood a figure draped in a black cloak, with blood-red hair standing on end, a cold, stern face filled with disgust and indifference, looking down upon the entire Goldenrod City.
"A bunch of scum..."
...
Goldenrod City's commercial street.
The police had secured control of the Team Rocket members throughout the commercial street.
The flames caused by the earlier explosion had been extinguished by the Squirtle Fire Department.
The entire commercial district was filled with smoke, but thankfully, there were no casualties; only a few Pokémon were seriously injured and rushed to the Pokémon Center for treatment.
"Gary, are you alright?"
Shinji rushed towards Gary through the smoke, asking with some concern.
Shinji was accompanied by a Weavile.
Upon hearing of the explosion in Goldenrod City, he and Gary had rushed into the city without hesitation, heading straight for the epicenter of the blast.
After dealing with the troublesome Team Rocket members, they encountered a short Team Rocket officer.
Knowing his boastful nature, Gary naturally wanted to challenge him to a one-on-one duel.
However, his Pokémon was nearly destroyed by multiple Electro Balls thrown by the officer.
Fortunately, Blastoise's defense was amazing, and Gary had taught it Protect; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
"It's alright,"
Gary shook his head, taking out his healing spray and applying it to Blastoise's injured area.
He never dreamed that Team Rocket could be so reckless, creating an explosion in the heart of a crowded area and releasing so many Electro Balls.
If he and Shinji hadn't arrived to rescue them immediately, the entire commercial street of Goldenrod City would likely have suffered massive casualties. He had always heard his grandfather mention Team Rocket, calling them a bunch of reckless lunatics.
Gary had never taken it seriously, thinking his grandfather was exaggerating.
Now it seemed those guys were even more insane than his grandfather had described.
"That guy called Chakra, his Steelix wasn't weak,"
Shinji recalled, the image of the Steelix appearing in his mind.
A Steelix of the Elite Four level.
He and Gary barely managed to defeat it together; if the opponent's other Pokémon hadn't all been Voltorb, the two of them might not have been able to handle Chakra.
"White Feather, didn't he come?"
Gary's mind flashed with White Feather's image.
Not only White Feather, but Gary hadn't even seen Red.
These two were definitely Elite Four level. With such a major accident in the Goldenrod City commercial district,
they must have just finished their battle and left Goldenrod City, and would have been attracted by the explosion.
But… Gary hadn't seen either of them along the way.
Even Sabrina, the Goldenrod City Gym Leader,
was nowhere to be seen…
Clearly, Gary had been completely focused on the battle and hadn't noticed Sabrina standing nearby.
"I think… they should be somewhere."
Shinji looked up at the tallest building in Goldenrod City:
the Silver Corporation headquarters building.
Several helicopters could be seen circling at the top of the building.
Those helicopters had the letter 'R' written on them.
Shinji had guessed it too. Team Rocket's target wasn't the Pokémon held by random trainers in the shopping district, but rather the headquarters of Silph Corporation.
Silph Corporation practically permeated the entire Pokémon world; their presence could be seen in any bustling town. From Poké Balls and healing materials to even TMs, Silph Corporation's influence was felt throughout the world.
Such a powerful company had been directly invaded by Team Rocket.
Even Team Galactic in the Sinnoh region hadn't taken such a bold action.
At least in Shinji's memory, Team Galactic's actions were always small-scale, nothing like Team Rocket's massive scale, practically destroying entire cities.
Was this Team Rocket's doing?!
