Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Two Years Later

The Erumpent Exploding Fluid boiled violently in the cauldron.

With just the slightest tremor, this dangerous liquid could cause a fierce explosion!

Yet the pale hand hovering above remained unusually steady, utterly unmoved by the constantly bursting bubbles on the surface.

A drop of dragon blood was added.

The liquid, which had been on the verge of exploding, settled down somewhat, quietly awaiting the next unpredictable moment of collapse!

Only after repeating this process ten times were twenty-four fluxweed stalks picked up one by one with tweezers and placed inside.

The boiling of the liquid suddenly intensified.

Every time a bubble burst, the faint, angry roar of a dragon could be heard echoing in the room.

A little toad bile and three pufferfish eyes were poured in, followed by a struggling scarab beetle.

The glass rod stirred continuously for five circles.

Then, powdered asphodel root was sprinkled in until the color of the unformed potion turned golden yellow...

Under the concoction of those magical, fair hands, the process that should have been tedious and hurried presented a pleasing elegance.

Precise to the second.

Jars and bottles were opened one by one. The magical ingredients taken out were exactly as planned, poured into the cauldron with precision, adding fuel to the birth of the potion!

The entire brewing process lasted for more than two hours.

The further it went, the more focused Snape's expression became.

His fingers nimbly mixed the potion, countless complex inspirations colliding in his mind, yet he could always choose the one possibility most likely to lead to success.

With the addition of the last frog brain.

The potion in the cauldron finally ceased showing self-destructive tendencies. A slowly rotating vortex formed in the center, with a purple light speckled like stars faintly visible within!

A certain premonition arose in his heart.

Snape knew he had succeeded!

Two years later, following *Scar-Be-Gone*, he had successfully created another potion never before seen in the wizarding world!

The difficulties experienced during this period were countless.

Before today, Snape had failed for more than a year. Even he had accepted the possibility that he might not complete this task before enrolling in Hogwarts.

The reason he spent such huge energy was naturally because this potion, named the *Focus Elixir*, had an extremely extraordinary effect!

In Snape's estimation, just sniffing the scent of the *Focus Elixir* could make a person enter a state of concentration.

Deaf to outside matters.

As long as there was no external interruption, efficiency when reading books could be stably increased by more than 30%!

And unlike Baruffio's Brain Elixir, which had similar effects but serious hidden dangers.

The effect of the *Focus Elixir* was milder. Long-term use would not cause addiction, relying more on the user themselves rather than the power of the potion.

Upon confirming this good news through personal experiments, a look of joy involuntarily appeared on Snape's face.

With the help of the *Focus Elixir*, his path of study at Hogwarts would inevitably become smoother!

And the good news didn't end there.

The moment the *Focus Elixir* was successfully brewed, Snape's Potions skill finally upgraded to LV5, successfully activating the "choose one of two" trait effect!

**[Assembly Line Craft: You have gained a basic understanding of most magical ingredients in this world, and now their effects and functions are firmly in your mind.**

**Therefore, in future potion brewing, you can choose to significantly increase your brewing speed and keenly find lower-value ingredients to replace the original formula, but the potion's effect will also be reduced.**

**Brewing Speed +50%, Material Cost -50%, Potion Effect -50%!]**

**[Precision Manufacturing: You have gained a basic understanding of most magical ingredients in this world, and now their effects and functions are firmly in your mind.**

**Therefore, in future potion brewing, you can choose to significantly slow down your brewing speed, and you can often discover more expensive ingredients to replace the original formula, but the potion's effect will also be significantly improved!**

**Brewing Speed -50%, Material Cost +50%, Potion Effect +50%!]**

Skillfully clicking open the system.

Snape looked at the two options with completely different effects appearing in front of him. Without hesitating for too long, he decisively chose **Precision Manufacturing**!

In an instant, countless inspirations collided wildly in his mind.

Many well-known formulas suddenly had many brand-new choices. Snape knew that brewing according to these new formulas would activate the effect of Precision Manufacturing!

Actually, the ability of Assembly Line Craft wasn't bad.

If he were still in that period of extreme poverty, Snape would definitely have chosen this trait without hesitation to accumulate initial capital.

But now *Scar-Be-Gone* was selling like hotcakes at *Rainbows Beauty Salon*, entering almost every household in the British wizarding world.

This also allowed Snape to harvest an extremely generous sum every six months, temporarily sufficient to support his astonishing consumption of magical ingredients!

Therefore, by comparison, Precision Manufacturing undoubtedly aligned more with Snape's plans for the future.

Especially when combined with the *Master Craftsman* specialty he would inevitably copy from Lily after accumulating enough experience.

Adding the two together, this would make the effect of potions brewed by Snape more than double that of those brewed by normal people!

In the distant future.

When Snape developed potions specifically for combat, this would surely become a powerful chip on the scales of victory!

And under the hard work of these two years, not only was there a huge improvement in potions, but Snape's various skills had long undergone earth-shaking changes!

...

**[Name: Severus Snape (Eric Horn)**

**Age: 11**

**Experience: 389,645 points**

**Skills: Spells LV3, Transfiguration LV2, Ancient Runes LV1, Dark Arts LV1, Potions LV5, Herbology LV4**

**Specialties:**

- **Dark Instinct – Gold** (Black magic learning speed ×2, innovation speed ×2)

- **Artisan's Insight – Red** (Herbology/Potions learning speed ×3, innovation speed ×3)]

These greatly changed skill levels undoubtedly best proved how much energy and effort he had spent on magic!

And after two long years of training, Snape even had the confidence to take on ten of his two-years-ago self at once!

It was just a pity that shearing wool from only one sheep, Lily, was still too slow.

So much so that often after a period of teaching, the quality would plummet, basically becoming an absent-minded state, gaining only a barely-better-than-nothing 100 experience points or so.

But presumably, not long after going to Hogwarts, Snape would definitely be able to successfully expand his teaching team, thereby speeding up the filling of the gap for copying the Gold specialty!

After briefly admiring for a moment.

Snape began to clean up the messy table, preparing to go urge Lily to study as agreed yesterday.

He would bring a few bottles of *Focus Elixir* along the way; after all, such a good thing would be useful for any student.

Then, just halfway through cleaning up.

A *thump-thump* sound of knocking on the window suddenly rang out.

Juliet, who was dozing lazily on the stand, also instantly perked up, her purple gem-like eyes staring unblinkingly out the window.

Eric looked towards the sound.

He saw an owl with a letter in its beak standing on the edge of the window, currently looking at Juliet with slight shrinking fear.

His spirits lifted!

A premonition faintly appeared in his heart. Even with Snape's temperament, when he opened the window, he couldn't hide the excitement deep in his eyes!

He took some nuts to reward the poor eagle owl and glared at the eager Juliet.

Snape stared entranced at the European-style shield crest on the envelope.

A golden lion, a bronze eagle on blue, a black badger on yellow, and a silver snake on green appeared prominently on it, heralding the invitation from that legendary school!

Taking a deep breath, Snape tore it open amidst the thumping of his own heart.
