Chapter 197 - Ch. 197: Frieza Mates With Turds

After talking to Vegeta, I needed to deal with the rest of my list of issues.

First on that list was learning how Slug had gotten stronger…

But that meant talking to Kami, who'd definitely been watching. I didn't want to do that. I'd been on Earth for over a decade, and not once had I ever gone anywhere near the Lookout. That was intentional.

Why? Because I had zero respect for the guy.

Sure, the Dragon Balls were useful… So long as you had someone strong enough to stop things like Slug, the Dragon Balls were great for cleaning up the aftermath. But he'd really only made them in the first place because he had nothing better to do. Guardians had a strict nonintervention policy when it came to 'lower' beings, after all.

In my opinion, a planet's guardian dealt with problems. If I'd split off all of my evil and set it onto the world below, I'd have made sure to deal with it, directly and decisively. Especially if it was my singular purpose in life to deal with things like that.

Not Kami. Roshi's master could attest to that.

So my desire to actually go up to the Lookout and speak with the guy face-to-face? Nonexistent. But my battle with Slug had literally determined the fate of the planet. If I'd have lost, Kami would have failed at his duties. There was no way that he hadn't been watching it from afar, which meant that he'd had the perfect viewpoint to Slug's impromptu power-up. If someone incursed into our timeline and secretly made Slug stronger, with some sort of demon magic, he'd have seen it.

It was something that I needed to know.

So, I, naturally, did everything else on my 'chore' list first.

I set the construction robots onto the spaceships. They began stripping them down for parts that would later be repurposed into a singular, larger spaceship designed to get Vegeta's crew off-world.

Not all of the materials would be used for that, though.

Apart from the healing tank goop that I'd pulled from Vegeta's ship for study, I also scraped up the residue from the crushed fruits from Slug's ship (the ones that almost certainly came from the Tree of Might) for later study.

And, after Novem finished scanning the computer architecture of Vegeta's ship, I learned that Frieza constantly tracked all ships, at least of that specific model, using a metallic alloy that was built into the inner shielding of the ship, which took the type of cosmic energy that one would normally encounter during interstellar travel and converted it into a special type of radio signal.

It took twelve hours of work to melt all of that alloy down into a beacon that'd constantly transmit to the entire universe that 'Frieza Collects Soiled Diapers To Look For A Mate' in morse code.

I then attached the beacon to a computer with software directly copied from Vegeta's ship, plugged the computer with various creative viruses, and shot it into orbit around Neptune.

Within twenty-four hours, someone used the Frieza Force's secure backdoor to try to get into the dummy system, setting off dozens of viruses that split their way through dozens of connected computer systems across dozens of galaxies.

I cut off my own connection to the beacon before Frieza's antiviral protocols could adapt, but I at least managed to confirm massive damage to the tyrant's servers. He wouldn't be able to ignore this provocation, and it'd look like it came from someone who killed Vegeta themselves.

Which meant someone significantly more powerful than Zarbon or Dodoria. The chances of Frieza sending the Ginyu Force and risking an, admittedly miniscule from his perspective, possibility that the beacon keeps transmitting 'Frieza Collects Soiled Diapers To Look For A Mate' were basically zero.

With that, I had myself a date with a Frost Demon.

Naturally, Vegeta found out about the transmission within the day, from Novem via the communication terminal that I'd placed in the medical center of the impromptu camp that the Saiyans were confined to.

I'd set the workload for the Saiyan spacecraft onto a fast track. I intended to get Vegeta's group off-world before Pepper's baby was born some time in the next two months, and the Vegeta clan's new ship would be an incredibly advanced piece of technology.

I wasn't going to hold back on the ship's quality. While I didn't trust Vegeta as far as I could throw him, I didn't actually have anything against my brother, either. He wasn't really a bad person at heart, simply the most egocentric person I'd ever meet.

As such, I suspected that the first thing Vegeta would do after I roofied his team and tossed them into space was reprogram the spacecraft's scanners and navigation system, specifically with a focus on Frieza and I. With the advanced caliber of the scanners on the ship, my little beacon would be one of the first things that he'd pick up.

As such, there wasn't any point in keeping the fact that I was calling Frieza to Earth from him.

Over the four hours after Novem told my brother that I was planning on battling Frieza personally within the next year or so, Vegeta hit his 'message threshold' of 400 direct attempts, and once he realized that I wasn't bothering to answer, he gathered his team, and together, they tried to leave the island a grand total of 200 times before finally giving up.

After a cursory glance over the messages, I ignored all of it. According to Vegeta, only he, as a Super Saiyan, could ever hope to defeat Frieza, and I was throwing away this entire planet by calling the lizard here. He was demanding the usual, that I teach him the secrets to the Super Saiyan in exchange for my life and the life of everyone on this planet, and spouting off all sorts of nonsense about the 'pride of the Saiyan race' in an effort to convince me to make him strong enough to kill Frieza with his own hands.

I didn't blame him. It wasn't all ego; Vegeta really did have good reason to want to be the one to defeat Frieza himself… But nothing was worth letting Vegeta's ego loose. He'd find more than enough satisfaction living the rest of his life as the king of the Saiyans, having his team worship him as some sort of god-king on some planet in the middle of nowhere.
