Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: "Clashing Blades" Completed

Desorock Highland.

Early morning, sporadic gunfire and cannon sounds rang out outside the camp. The piercing noises forced Noah, lying on his mat, to cover his ears with a pillow.

However, how could a mere pillow block the penetrating power of gunfire?

Soon after, Noah sat up listlessly from the mat.

He opened the panel and clicked on the [Resonator] interface.

Currently owned characters: Rover (Spectro), Jinhsi, Chixia, Yuanwu, Taoqi.

Clicking on Rover's Echo attributes, Noah began inventorying the Echoes he had collected yesterday.

Although he had given up the snow leopard companion story for this daily task yesterday, the benefit was obtaining a full fifty-three Echoes.

Among them, the most were Elite Class Echoes—thirty-nine in total, and fourteen Common Class.

As for Overlord Class Echoes, there weren't any. After all, Overlord Class Tacet Discords were extremely powerful, capable of wreaking havoc wherever they appeared.

For example, Impermanence Heron and Blazing Brilliance—across all of Jinzhou, there was only one of each. Noah planned to farm them once their tasks triggered.

"This one only has crit—not good."

"This has double crit, but it's from the Havoc Eclipse set—also not good."

"This one is from the Sacred light! set and has double crit, but unfortunately it's Common Class, and the main stat is defense."

After picking and choosing, Noah finally assembled a five-piece Sacred light! set for Rover, with costs 33311.

Character: Rover

HP: 18920

ATK: 1874

DEF: 1365

Resonance Efficiency: 146%

Crit Rate: 41%

Crit DMG: 245%

"Why is it so hard to farm a graduation build! Did Kuro secretly nerf my Echo substat rates?"

Looking at the panel stats, Noah felt a massive headache.

If he removed the Echoes currently equipped on Rover and gave them to Jinhsi, Jinhsi would gain an additional 24.3% crit rate compared to Rover.

Because Jinhsi has her signature weapon.

But even so, it was still far from the graduation-level build he wanted.

After all, he didn't have any Overlord or Calamity Class Echoes yet.

"Forget it—whatever. My hands are itching; let's pull on the banner."

Opening the [Convene] interface, the [Standard Character Convene] and [Standard Weapon Convene] looked incredibly tempting.

Glancing at the full 30 Lustrous Tides and 2600 Astrite at the top of the interface, Noah rubbed his hands like a fly and opened the Standard Weapon Convene.

He planned to use all his current and future Lustrous Tides on the standard weapon banner, not characters.

Because standard characters would eventually come as off-banner pulls in limited banners, but standard weapons wouldn't—and standard weapons were exceptionally valuable; pulling one was pure profit.

"Over in Jinzhou, with Jinhsi and the others searching the whole city, they should have found Rover by now."

"The current Rover only has Spectro attribute and is using the beginner tutorial swift blade."

"I need to pull an Emerald of Genesis and give it to Rover! Rover, Rover—look, a 5-star weapon!"

With beautiful hopes in mind, Noah pressed the "Convene x10" button.

Waves surged on the interface, purple light intertwining.

[Successfully convened — Variation!]

"Luck's not bad—a Variation on the first 10-pull. Good omen."

Noah happily accepted the Variation. Though he currently had no characters needing tuners, he would someday.

Variation was the god among 4-star weapons. Many veteran Wuthering Waves launch players didn't even have a single one.

If he could get five Variations to refine to rank 5, its strength would rival a 6-star weapon.

Pull again!

Convene x10.

[Successfully convened — Overture, Undying Flame!]

These two weapons were decent too—he'd find a chance to give them to Yangyang and Chixia later.

Pull again!

Convene x10.

[Successfully convened — Danjin!]

[When including the character "Danjin" in the team for the first battle, you can obtain her Resonance ability and combat experience.]

[Only one character's Resonance ability can be possessed at a time; you can switch freely among team members (switching has no cooldown).]

Thirty Lustrous Tides down, and no Emerald of Genesis—Noah was a bit disappointed, but it was within his expectations.

Instead, pulling Danjin gave him a slight surprise.

As a professional account booster, Danjin was absolutely one of his most proficient characters. Though only a 4-star, in his hands she was no less than a 5-star.

Right up until his traversal, he had maintained the hobby of soloing the Tower of Adversity with Danjin.

"Better not use little Queen of the West in reality—too punishing on mistakes."

Shaking his head, Noah regretfully added Danjin to the team, gained her corresponding combat experience, then put her back in storage.

Closing the [Convene] page, Noah finally opened [Tasks].

The purple companion task "Wild Heart's Return" had dimmed, appearing unclaimable.

The green daily task refreshed the instant he opened [Tasks].

[Daily Task: "Lingering Frequency"]

[Task Description: There is a lingering frequency with unresolved obsession in Qichi Village. Find her, soothe her obsession, and let her rest in peace.]

[Completing the task rewards: Astrite *800, Shell Credits *10000.]

"Qichi Village, a lingering frequency with unresolved obsession—I think I know what to do."

Noah stroked his chin, closed the panel, and walked toward the door.

Pushing it open, the officer from yesterday was right there, hand still in the knocking position.

"Good morning, great hero. Thank you and Tacet Scout comrade for your help yesterday. Everyone in the army says yesterday was the most relaxed day in recent times."

"It was just a small effort—nothing much. Also, just call me Noah."

Seeing Noah still looking energetic, a smile spread across the officer's face before he turned serious:

"A certain extraordinary lady called the front lines, requesting we escort you back to Jinzhou. She says there's an important matter to discuss."

Hearing this, Noah's spirits lifted, and he quickly asked:

"Who was it? Did she say what the matter was?"

Could they have found Rover?

That would be fantastic news!

"I don't know the details—it seems confidential, and it's not my place to ask more."

The officer shook his head:

"You seem to value this greatly. Shall I arrange a squad to escort you back to Jinzhou?"

"No need for a squad—I'm not that delicate."

At this moment, Noah wished he could sprout wings and fly back to Jinzhou, but he still hesitated and looked at the officer:

"If I leave, will the battlefield here on the front lines be okay?"

"No problem!"

The officer confidently patted his chest:

"Thanks to your help yesterday, we eliminated a large number of Tacet Discords ahead of schedule. Everyone rested well yesterday."

Hearing the officer's assurance, Noah felt relieved. Without further pleasantries, he followed the officer's directions to find Yangyang in the camp and left the Rearguard Base.

[Main Story Task: "Clashing Blades" has been completed.]

[Now possessing Radiant Tide *50, Lustrous Tide *10, Astrite *4200, Shell Credits *480000.]
