Chapter 13 - the weight of one name

Mirel stood startled his legs didn't move.

What was that he witnessed, power like that—raw, merciless, terrifying. His eyes floated over Kalies, he seemed merciless that silver hair is not beautiful it's fierce.

How powerful is he…? Who is he?

Is that a warning to stay away from him. The atmosphere around kalies seemed tensed. Mirel bites his lips and felt weak this was not the man whom he met. He is not the man he laughed with.

He is something else not vulnerable at all.

What did he do to anger the Seven Gates? Whats his rivalrywith them?

Mirel head stirred up with doubts

Why does one name—Dian—tear him apart like this?

Kalies' face remained hard, carved from fury. Two men lay dead behind them, and yet he did not look back. He did not speak. He did not explain. He started walking his face was a warning that don't ask anything to me now.

Still they walked together side by side.

Turn after turn.

Time stretched thin between them.

Silence grew unbearable.

Mirel exhaled sharply and stopped walking.

"Ah… say something," he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "This silence is killing me."

Kalies did not stop.

"Kalies," Mirel called. He couldn't deal with the mistery any more.

Kalies' mind was wandering in the memory of blood-soaked snow and Dian standing over Gretchen's lifeless body. The man he had loved.his soulmate ,The man he had abandoned everything for. The reason he had walked away from a throne

He couldn't let Dian live in this world.

I left everything… and he still died. He muttered

Kalies collapsed to the ground why....why.....why....

"Kalies," Mirel called again, louder.

Kalies stopped and turned

You ...you never understand....

His words were like sharp blades.

Mirel hesitated, then forced the words out.

"I'm… I'm scared to walk with you."

Kalies' eyes narrowed.

"Then don't walk with me

Mirel flinched but pressed on.

"Just—just tell me why you killed them."

Mirel scratched his head, uneasy.

you killed them after hearing a name."

Silence.

"…Dian."

Kalies' gaze snapped to him.

Mirel immediately lowered his eyes in fear.

"At least tell me," he said quietly, "what's between you and the Seven Gates."

Kalies looked ahead again, voice low and steady—too steady.

"I will kill Dian." kalies stand from from the ground.

Mirel looked up.

"That is my destiny now," Kalies continued. "I will make him regret every choice he ever made."

The words were not spoken out of any simple reason or out of rage.

They were spoken like a promise he made.

Mirel could feel that this was not hatred born from a moment. This was something deep and old. Something that could not be undone.

He did not ask anything else.

Kalies become silent for a long moment. he didn't turn around.

"He killed him Kalies said.

Mirel frowned. "Him"

Kalies' fingers curled slowly into a fist.

"…Gretchen."

The name fell between them like a sharp blade.

"He was my reason he was the only reason for me to live and die And Dian took him away now would let the world suffer his pain.

A silent compassion was there, mirel could feel the heavy heart of kalies.

He felt the same pain in his heart. A tear drop rolled down from his eyes he took his hand and held kalies's face. He kissed his forehead and hugged him tightly as he don't want to seperate from him for ages.
