Chapter 170 - Aoki Shiraishi

A massive circular stone stage stood at the heart of the New Hidden Sand Village. Nearby, a colossal pyramid loomed, casting a long shadow that dominated the landscape.

The Kazekage's office, the stone stage, and this pyramid formed the three central landmarks of the new era.

Unlike the old Sand Village, which was constantly besieged by howling gales and grit, the perimeter of the new village was lined with silver pyramids. These structures generated a specialized barrier that deflected the encroaching desert sands.

The layout of the New Hidden Sand followed Shiraishi's original blueprint: temperate weather, babbling brooks, and lush fruit groves. From this district alone, the Sand appeared no less prosperous than Konoha.

Maintaining this "premium" environment required precise barrier ninjutsu and geological engineering—feats Shiraishi achieved by placing intricate arrays within each pyramid node, managed by his puppet army.

The village was under total surveillance. Within the hundred-meter-tall central pyramid, the Sensory and Barrier Teams worked tirelessly.

Shiraishi's ambition could be glimpsed in the very architecture of this monolith. It wasn't just the Fire envoy who felt the oppressive weight of this hidden power; the envoys from the Earth, Water, and Lightning nations were equally unsettled.

As the protagonist of the day, Shiraishi was in no rush to appear. Instead, he stayed in his office, reviewing intelligence from the front lines of the Mist and Leaf conflict.

Reporting to him was Arashi Arakawa, the current head of the Sand's Intelligence Department.

Intel Report:

Rin Nohara (Three-Tails Jinchuriki): Killed by Jonin Kakashi Hatake.

The Three-Tails: Body disappeared; current location unknown.

Shiraishi hadn't paid much attention to the Mist-Leaf theater previously, but as the details emerged, his intuition signaled that something was wrong.

Why was a Leaf ninja the Jinchuriki for the Mist? Why did the Mist choose a foreign vessel? These were anomalies.

Furthermore, reports indicated that the Mist forces had been decimated by a "mysterious entity" following the incident.

"Our spies in the Mist report that the village leadership never actually planned to seal their Tailed Beast into a Leaf ninja," Arashi stated.

"Continue the investigation," Shiraishi commanded.

Arashi nodded. "Additionally, Fuguki Suikazan has signaled his satisfaction with our offer."

Fuguki was a man of immense greed. While the Mist's "Blood Mist" policies allowed some to thrive on violence, high-ranking officials like Fuguki wanted an exit strategy.

Terrified of ending up as a corpse in a gutter like his peers, he chose to sell secrets to the Sand. It was he who had leaked the details of the Three-Tails incident.

"Keep him in place. We cannot afford to lose the head of the Mist's Intelligence Department," Shiraishi said. By keeping Fuguki on a leash, Shiraishi effectively had a backdoor into the Mist's most sensitive data.

After finishing his work, Shiraishi stretched and reached out to rub the fat ginger cat eating its kibble. The cat offered a half-hearted protest before purring.

"I wonder if this cat has been neutered?"

Neutered? The ginger cat's eyes widened in horror. Shiraishi flipped it over to check, the cat trembling as Shiraishi hummed thoughtfully. "Doesn't look like it. Let's cut them off next time."

The cat fainted onto the floor. Maki, entering the room, could only sigh at her husband's habit of bullying the pet with terrifying jokes.

Shiraishi laughed, checked the time, and donned his formal Kazekage attire—the robes and the wide-brimmed hat emblazoned with the character for "Wind"

The Ascension

On the circular stone stage, the crowd grew restless. Suddenly, a thunderous explosion echoed in the sky. All heads turned upward.

A figure stood suspended in the air. Clad in the blue-and-white regalia of the Kazekage, with a cloak billowing behind him bearing the words "Fifth Kazekage," Shiraishi descended.

The radiance of the Cyan Flame swirled around him—a visual testament to a lost lineage returning to its rightful place. The air pressure shifted, forming a vortex.

The sky suddenly darkened with heavy clouds as if a storm were imminent. Just as the crowd reached for umbrellas, Shiraishi moved.

With a graceful flourish, he drew his silver blade. The movement was mesmerizing. As the sleeve of his robe turned, the blade sang through the air, creating a cyclone of razor-sharp currents.

Taijutsu Style: Sword Dance!

This was the evolution of his Iaijutsu, found among the remaining fifty-four cards in the vault. As Shiraishi performed the elegant, sweeping strikes, the envoys watched in rapt silence.

Many of the civil officials were already composing poems in their heads about the "Elegant Blade of the Sand."

Shiraishi's entrance set a new standard for "Kage-level" pageantry. As the final "dance" strike was unleashed, the dark clouds above were literally shattered by the vacuum of the blade, dissolving into shimmering silver light that rained down upon the village like stardust.

What a grand display... Rasa thought from his position on the stage. Even he hadn't expected Shiraishi to debut with such theatrical flair.

"LORD KAZEKAGE!"

As Shiraishi's feet touched the stone stage, a roar of cheers erupted from the villagers, shaking the very foundations of the oasis.

Facing the world, Shiraishi allowed his Natural Energy to pour out into the ground. The surrounding fruit trees and flora seemed to pulse in response.

"The sky is high, yet without the sun, moon, and stars, it is no myth. The earth is broad, yet without the myriad of life, it is no world.

I take the surname Aoki as my beginning, and I shall forge a legacy for the Sand that lasts a hundred generations."

The name Aoki (Blue Wood) was a calculated choice. "Ao" (Blue) represented the Cyan Flame that made him a legend and his system's skill tree. "Ki" (Wood) represented his connection to the Ashura lineage.

"I am Aoki Shiraishi."

As he spoke the words "Hundred Generations," the natural energy surged. Countless cacti erupted from the sand around the stage, blooming into vibrant, exotic flowers in a matter of seconds—as if nature itself were bowing to its new king.
