Chapter 2 - The First Distortion

Chapter Two: The First Distortion

Mo Tian lay on the cold ground, his breathing shallow, his body barely responding.

The memories he had inherited from the original owner of this body were merciless—humiliation after humiliation.

This body wasn't just weak.

It had been deliberately broken.

"Shattered meridians… a nearly dead dantian…"

Mo Tian murmured as he struggled to move his fingers.

In his previous world, this would already mean death.

But this world…

Obeyed laws.

And laws… could be broken.

[Notification]

[The current body is unsuitable for conventional cultivation.]

[Suggestion: Distort the Law of Compensation.]

Mo Tian froze.

"Distort… a law?"

[Laws are not absolute.]

[Every distortion has a price.]

[Do you wish to activate it?]

He didn't hesitate.

"Activate."

In the next instant, he felt something strange.

Not power… but disorder.

As if the world itself had lost balance for a brief moment.

[Law of Compensation distorted.]

[Accumulated damage converted into deferred debt.]

[Body mobility time: 30 minutes.]

Mo Tian slowly opened his eyes.

The pain hadn't disappeared…

But it no longer paralyzed him.

"That's enough."

He stood with difficulty, leaning against the stone wall.

The room was narrow, damp, and reeked of mold.

The sect's prison.

He let out a soft laugh.

"So I haven't been executed yet."

Suddenly, footsteps echoed down the corridor.

"Move faster! The Hall Elder wants to make sure he's not dead yet!"

A rough voice, filled with disgust.

Three disciples in gray sect robes appeared.

In their eyes, Mo Tian wasn't human—just trash.

"Look at him, still breathing."

"A waste of resources. If it were up to me, I'd have killed him on day one."

One of them stepped forward and kicked him.

In the past, the original owner of this body would have screamed…

Or begged.

But Mo Tian?

He simply looked at him.

A calm, cold gaze—devoid of fear.

The disciple hesitated.

"What are you staring at?!"

[Suggestion]

[Distort the Law of Cause and Effect.]

[Effect: Transfer of guilt.]

Mo Tian smiled faintly.

"Try it."

[Activated.]

In that very moment, the disciple stumbled backward.

His face suddenly turned pale.

"I—I didn't do anything!"

He shouted unconsciously.

The other two disciples froze.

"What are you talking about?"

Before they could understand, an angry voice thundered from the end of the corridor.

"Who dared to abuse a prisoner without authorization?!"

An elder in black robes appeared, his eyes sharp as blades.

His gaze locked onto the trembling disciple.

"You."

"No! I swear I didn't—"

A single slap sent him crashing to the ground.

"You dare mistreat an accused before trial?"

"Are you trying to disgrace the sect?!"

Mo Tian watched silently.

A sin never committed… had become reality.

The disciple was dragged away screaming.

As for the other two, they backed away in fear, not daring to even look at Mo Tian.

When the corridor finally fell silent, Mo Tian closed his eyes.

[Warning]

[A causal debt has been recorded.]

[The price will be paid later.]

He took a deep breath.

"No problem… I'll pay it when I'm stronger."

Minutes passed.

Then the prison door opened.

"Mo Tian,"

the elder said coldly.

"You have one last chance."

Mo Tian slowly raised his head.

"Tomorrow, the sect trial."

"If you are proven innocent… you'll be exiled."

"And if not…"

He didn't finish.

There was no need.

Mo Tian smiled faintly.

"Elder."

The man paused.

"Do you believe… that laws cannot be broken?"

The elder's eyes narrowed.

"Watch your words."

He turned and left.

Mo Tian remained alone.

He sat calmly, ignoring the pain that was slowly returning.

"A trial?"

He murmured.

"Perfect."

He opened the system panel.

[Ruined Laws System – Level 1]

[Remaining distortions today: 1]

A quiet laugh escaped his lips.

"Tomorrow…"

"I won't just walk out innocent."

He stared into the darkness ahead.

"I'll walk out different."
