Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – This Strong?!

What…

Genos had never expected the monster before him to evolve so terrifyingly fast.

The cyborg who had been shouting about hunting her moments ago now lay mangled and broken. Mosquito Woman's confidence soared.

Covering her mouth, she laughed, scarlet pupils blazing with disdain and mockery.

"What, weren't you hunting me a minute ago? How do you hunt while lying on the ground? Who said you could lie down!"

With a swift kick to Genos's abdomen, she sent him hurtling through the air.

He tried to activate his thrusters mid-flight, but it was already too late.

Mosquito Woman's wings flapped furiously, and in the blink of an eye, she was before him, slashing downward with her razor-sharp forelegs.

Air tore apart, metal screamed, and a massive gash split Genos's waist, exposing the intricate mechanics within.

"Hahahahahaha! Intoxicating power! Die!!"

Crimson light streaked across the sky as Genos's body bobbed like a toy boat in a storm, battered repeatedly.

When he finally slammed to the ground, less than half of him remained—limbs shredded, torso mangled, only his head still connected.

Even his mechanical eyes dimmed.

He realized: he could no longer defeat the monster before him.

Looks like only one move remains…

His gaze locked on the glowing blue core in his chest. He steeled his resolve.

Mosquito Woman landed lightly, stepping on Genos's head, her tone playful.

"Relax—dying at the hands of the evolved me is a kind of honor. You won't be the last."

Sorry… Doctor… I must eradicate evil at all costs!

Genos roared inside, triggering his core without hesitation. Destructive energy rapidly surged through his broken frame.

Mosquito Woman's pupils shrank instinctively—danger. She tried to retreat, but it was too late.

This cyborg was going for a death blow!

Just as Genos's energy neared detonation, steady footsteps echoed from the distant road, accompanied by a shout:

"Hold it right there, damn Mosquito! I'll spray you dead today!"

Genos froze, lifting his shattered face toward the voice.

On the scorched asphalt stood a bald man, furiously chasing a wobbling Mosquito with an insecticide sprayer.

To his left hovered a tall, blond man, striking and imposing, eyes scanning the battlefield.

King glanced at the downed cyborg and the blood-red Mosquito Woman, instantly assessing the situation.

Looks like Mosquito Woman had absorbed enough blood to evolve—turning the newly-arrived Financially-Strapped Hero into a seemingly hopeless opponent.

Genos's mechanical eyes scanned the newcomers, data streaming through his mind.

The bald one—weak aura, ordinary human.

The blond man… familiar. Wait! S-Class Rank 7, the Strongest Man on the Surface—KING!

Hope flared. Genos didn't know the limits of an S-Class Hero, but KING's legendary feats were well-documented.

If he couldn't handle this monster, perhaps KING could.

Mosquito Woman stiffened at the sight of the two newcomers. She read their auras carefully.

The bald one—weak. But the blond… terrifyingly strong.

So what! I can endlessly evolve by drinking blood and become the supreme ruler—why would I retreat before mere humans?!

She readied a strike, but her limbs suddenly felt leaden, trembling.

What's happening?!

A quick self-check left her stunned. Every cell in her body screamed in terror of the blond man.

"Enough!!!"

She shrieked, forcing herself forward, ground exploding beneath her as she streaked toward him in a blood-red arc.

King quietly stepped behind Saitama, observing.

This Mosquito Woman was dangerous—and unpredictable.

Smash her, and you automatically inherit a stalker cyborg who refuses to leave until accepted as your disciple.

King didn't want that. He'd let Saitama handle it—after all, he was Genos's teacher in the original story, whether he liked it or not.

Yet something odd happened.

Mosquito Woman zipped past Saitama, lunging straight at King.

In her mind, the half-broken cyborg was scrap, and the bald human beneath notice.

The only threat left was the blond man—this terrifying S-Class.

If he fell, she could roam free, climbing toward world domination through endless bloodsucking.

She poured every ounce of her strength into the strike, channeling all stored blood to maximize attack power.

A lingering crimson arc cut the air.

"Die, human!!"

Smack.

King casually swatted. The crimson light scattered like smoke.

Mosquito Woman flew off like a cannonball, smashing into a nearby building, splattering blood across the floor.

"Almost got blood on me—good thing I'm quick."

Genos: "…"

This strong?!
