Chapter 5 - Side Quests

In Redgar Noah's past life, blessed individuals awaken the player system. They kill monsters, gain exp, level up, and gain automatic knowledge of skills every 50 levels.

When he died and transmigrated into the body with the shared surname in whatever world this was, Noah's system also transmigrated with him.

While the original body's memories are all locked, Noah could feel the body's personality.

He was originally a righteous person who could not see bad happening in front of his eyes, he was an ambitious person who never missed an opportunity to get stronger, and he was also a guy who had plenty of attachments to his friends and family. But right now, he couldn't feel anything.

Is this how one feels when they live for more than 200 million years? Or perhaps, this is a characteristic of a godkin?

Who knows…

Noah doesn't dare to tell these monstrous loyal individuals that he has been transmigrated. Hence, he first sent away the fierce one. Then, placed his attention on the quests that were generated from his earlier conversation with these Zodiac Knights.

Main Quest: Collect all fragments of your soul weapon (0/7)

Side Quest (1): Reach Level 50 (1/50)

Side Quest (2): Form a summoning contract with a magical beast

Side Quest (3): Create your own skill

Side Quest (4): Collect your Zodiac Knights (2/13)

Side Quest (5): Punish the betrayers (0/7)

Side Quest (6): Save the loyal subordinates (0/4)

Side Quest (7): Find the secret of your transmigration

Side Quest (8): Unseal the memories of the host (0%)

The system-generated quests are more like reminders than the usual quests one would accept at the guilds. The only problem was that the system wouldn't issue it automatically. Just like a reminder, it has to be issued by the user, and then the system will track the progress automatically.

"Hmm… let's see… leveling up takes priority here. Luckily for me, I have this strong subordinate. So, use them to level up. Since this woman is in the so-called ascendant stage, we can just go and hunt a level-500 one for the starters. My level would instantly boost to atleast 300 to 350 in one go. But, the problem is that we cannot share the exp spoils in a party system if we aren't separated by more than thirty meters when she slays the boss. And staying within a thirty-meter range in the presence of a level 500 monster would be disastrous. At my stage, the risk of death will be close to 99.99%. The passive skills say that I would go into a five-thousand-year deep sleep period if I die. Nah, I cannot take such risks. Should I take it slow? Ugh… what to do… if only there is some life-saving treas…"

"Milord… milord…" Virgo's voice brought Noah out of his thoughts. "Yes?"

Virgo hesitated a little bit for a few seconds, but eventually took a deep breath, "There is something that His Majesty ought to be aware of. It's about your sister."

"I have a sister, too?" Noah was curious.

Virgo nodded, "Yes, Milord. Three days ago, I heard that she, too, woke up from her slumber. However, your relationship with her isn't great. I worry that she might come after His Majesty once she learns that His Majesty's powers are gone. As both of your souls are interconnected, if His Majesty moves from the spot, she could find out that His Majesty is alive."

"Three days ago?" Noah furrowed his brows. Three days ago, his soul entered this body, and the system sealed the soul of the original host. Was that the real reason? He couldn't help but wonder.

The system was quick to reply.

*Ding! No need to worry, Mr. Noah. The connection between you and the other party has been severed. You have nothing to worry about.

"Really? That's great, Aria…" Noah's eyes lit up, and he blurted aloud, taking Virgo by surprise. "Milord? Who is Aria?"

"Nothing. It just came to my mind," Noah corrected his tone. His gaze then fell upon Virgo and let out a smile, "Virgo." The latter, feeling his gaze upon her face, couldn't help but blush and look at her feet, feeling nervous, "Mi… Milord?"

Noah said, "Let's go out. I wish to explore this world and see the changes that happened during these past five millennia."

"Just the two of us traveling alone?" The maiden in blue robes abruptly raised her head to look at her lord; excitement could be seen on her face, "As you wish, Milord.

"Milord," Leo rumbled, his voice steady but urgent, "what about me?"

Noah glanced at Virgo, who had busied herself with brushing imaginary dust off his robe. He then shifted to Leon.

"You go and find the ones who were disloyal but still carry some loyalty in their heart. Give them a choice of return. Tell them that I'm willing to forgive their crimes," he said calmly.

Leon wanted to protest, but he clenched his fists and opened them a few times before nodding solemnly. "As you command."

Noah stepped down from the throne, eyes scanning the enormous hall. Then at the ceiling. He couldn't help but wonder, "If this is called the Tower of Noah, it should hold some artifacts or treasures. Should I explore it a bit? Or maybe I can just ask this crybaby chick the directions. She seemed extremely loyal to me."

"Virgo…" He called her out and then said. "Say, what is…"

But before the words could finish leaving his mouth, the ground rumbled.

BOOM

Dust trickled from the ceiling. The floor quaked at once.

"What the hell?" Noah frowned, stabilizing himself. Virgo stood protectively in front of him, her eyes glowing with pale energy.

Meanwhile, a low growl came from Leon's throat. "Tch… It must be those bastards again."

Noah raised a brow. "Who?"

Leon clenched his fists, and the air around him sparked. "Humans. They've been attempting to breach the barrier for over the past millennium. Weaklings with no respect or fear. They provoke us endlessly, thinking they can intrude into this sacred place. But… we are bound by your order, Milord. As we cannot harm humans, we can only hide inside."

His voice turned venomous as he added. "But they keep coming. Every week, every month, those persistent, pathetic insects. They just don't give up at all."

Noah blinked, trying to take it all in. "They've been attacking this place for a thousand years?"

Virgo nodded and once again started sobbing. "Yes, Milord. *sob* sob* But they never succeeded… However, in recent times, they have gotten stronger. The barrier, which His Majesty placed, has begun to crack. *sob* I apologize, Your Majesty. We don't have the power to repair the barrier."

Ding!

A piercing chime sliced through Noah's head as soon as her words ended. A new screen materialized in front of Noah.
