The attack came from out of nowhere. Yan Feifan hadn't expected the heavily made-up woman's husband to suddenly turn and attack him.
He saw the fist just inches away. His mind reacted, but his body was too slow to dodge.
He did his best to minimize the damage.
Yan Feifan jerked his head aside just enough to spare his nose, taking the punch on his cheek.
Relatively speaking, the nasal bone is fragile and can't take much of a hit.
At the same time, Yan Feifan thrust the snake head in his right hand toward the man, hoping that the fear of a venomous snake would make him call off the attack...
SMACK...
Yan Feifan's gambit failed. He took a solid punch to his right cheek.
The violent impact made his thoughts go fuzzy and his vision blacked out for a second as he stumbled backward.
In that instant, his muscle memory took over before his conscious mind could. He subconsciously flung the venomous snake away.
