Alarms blared throughout East Sea City.
City Hall.
Ji Bochang shakily wiped away his sweat. Just a short while ago, he had been ecstatic about not having to go to the ruins. But his joy was short-lived—a perfect example of pleasure turning to pain.
"What's the situation?" the mayor asked, his expression grave.
"It's not good."
Ji Bochang took a deep breath and began to explain in a low voice:
"I've already had my people try. There's no way to leave East Sea City. And that's not all. We've discovered a growing number of people approaching from outside the city. They're all dressed in black clothes and robes. We suspect… the Evil Cult!"
The mayor's heart pounded in his chest. He walked to the window and looked up at the brilliant Great Sun in the sky, its form impossible to conceal even in the torrential rain. His expression was utterly grim.
"A… True Immortal!"
The words were almost a lament. Despair washed over his face, and his whole body began to tremble.
