"Hahaha, don't take it so seriously. You can't just give a Contracted Magical Beast to someone."

Lurans was just joking with that last remark.

"To form a contract with a Magical Beast, you need more than just a Contract Scroll—you also have to defeat it. Even if I wanted to give it to you, it wouldn't agree."

As far as Magical Beasts are concerned, human things like noble titles, fame, and bloodlines are all meaningless. They only recognize strength.

If you want them to agree to a Master-Servant Contract, you basically have to overpower them first.

Ronin clearly couldn't do that.

Lurans raised his hand and patted the Thunderbolt Wind Chasing Beast on the head. The beast understood, slowly walked into its shelter, and lay down on its "bed," its bronze bell-like eyes staring at the grandfather and grandson outside.

Ronin spread his hands, relieved. "Since when did you start telling jokes?"

For a moment there, he hadn't known how to respond.
