That gaze, resolute yet tinged with despair, tugged at Jean Quincy's heartstrings, and she felt a sting in her nose.

Although she had forcefully brought them here, she hadn't pressed them for Titus Miles's whereabouts. Instead, she had treated them to good food and drinks, showing them her son's childhood photos and toys as she told them stories about his past.
