Chapter 5 - Chapter 2: Starting with an SS-Level Fighting Master

Soon, a map of Ogrande City, three feet long and a foot and a half wide, was spread out before Zorn.

The first thing to catch his eye was the long, narrow area to the north: the Fog Zone.

It housed the city-state's Night Watchers, patrol squads, as well as the churches and the Knight Order of the Holy Fierce Sun Church.

The Confused who emerged from the gray fog were usually eliminated by these groups immediately.

If these Confused made it into the city proper, they would cause a great deal of trouble.

Next was the Old Town District, located to the west.

The entire Old Town District, occupying just a quarter of the city-state's area, housed more than half of its population.

Crowded, filthy, and chaotic. Overrun with thieves and plagued by poor security. These were the defining traits of the Old Town District.

Then there was the commercially prosperous Bay Area.

And finally, the New City District, reserved for nobles, merchants, and the nouveau riche, where every inch of land was worth a fortune.

The city layout for each region was slightly different in every version of the [Holy Relic: Eternal Poem].

A more detailed understanding of Ogrande City would help Zorn execute his various plans and participate in numerous [Events].

As his gaze swept across the map of Ogrande City, Zorn quickly absorbed its many important and useful details.

'The Bay Area is much larger than I imagined.'

'This means that in this time period, the development of Steam Technology is more mature. I need to accelerate my investments in it. Those few potions known as [Money Printers] also need to be developed and... patented as soon as possible.'

'The roar of the tide of mystery and the Extraordinary will soon sweep across the entire World.'

'The Bay Area's commercial prosperity also means the wealthy districts are larger, and there are more rich people.'

'There are plenty of nobles and merchants who crave Extraordinary Power.'

'Some industries that fleece the rich... *cough, cough*... I mean, Extraordinary industries designed to fulfill the rich's dreams of the Extraordinary, are probably also reaching a tipping point.'

With this in mind, he rubbed the bridge of his nose.

'The Docks Gang devoured the profits that should have been mine. There's clearly a Transcendent involved.'

'This...'

Zorn paused, a hint of a bloodthirsty smile flashing deep within his eyes.

'How interesting!'

'Taking out the mastermind behind the Docks Gang will alleviate my family's financial pressure. At the same time... those Docks Gang criminals can become nutrients for the growth of my Evil Spirit Wizard Sequence.'

'The Docks Gang matter is not something my current [Fighting Master] Sequence can handle. I'll have to wait until after I receive the [Evil Spirit Wizard] inheritance.'

'Before that, I need to find an [Event] where my [Fighting Master] Sequence can participate and profit.'

As he spotted a few distinct markings in the Old Town District, Zorn's pupils constricted. He had suddenly thought of something.

"Uncle Glangk, has there been a Rat Plague in the Old Town District recently?"

"A Rat Plague?"

Glangk paused, then shook his head.

"I haven't heard anything about a Rat Plague, but... I have heard that there have certainly been a lot more rats in the Old Town District lately."

"And it seems quite a few [Rat Catchers] have shown up over there, too!"

Rat Catchers!

Zorn fell into thought at his words.

'Rat Catchers are starting to appear, but the Rat Plague hasn't broken out yet...'

'Clearly...'

His eyes lit up.

'That treasure in the underground tunnels hasn't been discovered yet.'

'You have to understand, that treasure doesn't just contain a staggering amount of Kruger Gold Coins, but also a [Forbidden Item].'

'It could be incredibly useful at this current stage.'

'The rumor of the [Mysterious Treasure] in the underground tunnels once caused a huge stir in Ogrande, leading many desperate people to venture into the labyrinthine sewer network.'

'And those criminals wielding sinister powers committed several horrific massacres down in those tunnels.'

'Also, the Rat Plague is one of Ogrande City's [Major Events].'

A plan to acquire the treasure quickly formed in Zorn's mind.

A moment later, he looked at Glangk and said,

"Uncle Glangk, we need to head out. And I need you to go to Ruke Long Street and find me a Rat Catcher."
