Gu Xi was startled for a moment but nodded in agreement.
But Shen Yue didn't move.
He was curled up sideways on the sofa by the window, head bowed as he idly fiddled with the lighter in his hand, as if he hadn't heard a word Ye Nan said.
The warm glow from the crystal chandelier on the ceiling slanted across his face, bathing one half of his features in light while the other remained hidden in shadow, making him seem inscrutable.
Gu Xi raised a slight eyebrow.
'Shen Yue isn't the type to be so oblivious...'
Just then, Ye Nan took a deep breath and walked over to Shen Yue. She lifted her chin slightly, trying her best to project an air of confidence. "Mr. Shen, could you please give us a moment alone?"
With a CLICK, Shen Yue snapped his lighter shut and lazily stood up. He clicked his tongue. "An order from Miss Ye. How could I dare to disobey?"
Ye Nan's brow furrowed slightly as she watched Shen Yue push open the door to one of the suite's bedrooms and stride inside.
