The three of them arrived at the old lady's small house to settle in. Since no one had been tending to the place, the front door and courtyard were completely overgrown with weeds.
Ian Quincy and Titus Shaw took charge of the cleaning. Due to her pregnancy, Cecilia Adler was forbidden from doing any heavy lifting. With nothing to do, she wandered around. As she stood by the edge of the field looking out into the distance, she spotted Charlotte Dalton. She automatically chose to ignore her.
"Cecilia!" Charlotte called out loudly.
Cecilia ignored her, but the other woman walked right up to her.
"Cecilia, I'm sorry for how I treated you before. I want to apologize."
Cecilia swept her gaze over her. Charlotte had gained a little weight and looked healthy. Life must have been treating her well.
"Even if you apologize, things can never go back to the way they were between us," Cecilia said.
