Resistance blocked his path, leaving him momentarily shocked and stunned. But looking at the woman beneath him, he simply pressed on through her screams.
"Quentin Grant, where the hell is your sense of decency?"
He smiled faintly. "You ate it."
Nora Ainsworth was speechless, though her expression had softened somewhat. "Sharon Ainsworth is so beautiful, and the Ainsworth Family is wealthy. Your engagement was arranged a long time ago. Won't you be losing out if you don't marry her?"
He snorted. "There are thousands, tens of thousands of fine women in Alveria. Am I supposed to marry every single one of them? What is there to lose? I don't need a woman to prop up my career."
Nora Ainsworth wasn't surprised in the least to hear such cocky words come from his mouth.
"Don't come looking for me at school anymore. It doesn't look good."
He scoffed. "Did you really think I came to the school just to see you? I was just passing by. Don't flatter yourself."
