Clara Grant was completely unprepared, so the doctor's words left her stunned. She didn't know whether to be happy or upset, joyful or sad.
A maelstrom of conflicting emotions churned within her.
Seth Quinn didn't like children, and she was still in school. She wasn't at all ready to have a baby.
'This baby is coming at a really bad time!'
Leaving the doctor's office, Clara Grant's mind was heavy with worry. Staring at the ground, she walked distractedly and bumped right into someone.
Clara Grant staggered from the impact and nearly fell. She quickly steadied herself and, without even looking up, hurriedly said, "I'm sorry, so sorry."
"Watch where you're going! You could've hurt someone! Can't you see she's pregnant?" a slightly familiar man's voice sounded from above her head.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere? Does your belly hurt?" Clearly, he wasn't asking her.
