"Can you tell me why your best friend tried to kill herself?"

Nancy glared at Laura Lowell, her eyes wide, as if to say, 'You really have the nerve to ask?' She looked like she wanted to burn a hole right through her.

"That scumbag was always telling her how beautiful you are, calling you his goddess. My best friend is his girlfriend, you know? Why should he be fawning over you all day?"

"My best friend couldn't take it anymore, so she threatened to break up with him, just as a bluff. But she never expected that scumbag to actually agree! He even said you're the only one he truly loves."

Nancy grew angrier as she spoke, her voice becoming increasingly shrill.

Laura Lowell nodded in understanding. "Your best friend's boyfriend… is he a fan of mine?"

"That's right! It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, they never would have broken up, and my best friend wouldn't be in the hospital. So tell me, shouldn't I hold you accountable for this?"
