Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Take This Woman and Get Out

With that, he unsteadily shuffled aside, revealing the tribe members behind him, who were surrounded by a dozen or so men.

The Beastman, the Snow Tiger Tribe Leader, walked over and inspected them one by one. 'These Pure Humans are a bit emaciated, but they'll recover after a few meals. A good number of the tribe's slaves have died recently, so these will make perfect replacements.'

He pointed at Wu Yue, who was so pale and gaunt she looked like a skeleton. "This female is wasted away. She can't possibly gather or do any work, can she?"

Wu Yue was crushed by his blatant disdain.

'Excuse me, I'm not a slave. I'm just trash about to be thrown out!'

The Snow Tiger Tribe Leader turned, tore two thick haunches off a fresh kill, and threw them to the sturdy man. "Now leave."

The sturdy man and the men behind him stared at the thick, meaty haunches, their eyes gleaming with hunger. At a wave of the sturdy man's hand, two of them immediately stepped forward to carry the meat away.

He then gestured for his men to herd their own people aside.

The Beastman who had been carrying Wu Yue seized the opportunity to set her down behind the other tribe members, propping her against a large rock so she wouldn't collapse in a heap.

"Yue, I'm leaving you here. Once we're gone, they probably won't bother driving you away."

With that, he turned and rejoined his tribe's ranks.

Wu Yue's body was devoid of strength, and her head was buzzing. She felt like she couldn't even muster the energy to lift a single finger.

Hearing his words, she gave a bitter smile. 'My own Clan Leader and his men won't take me back because I'm a waste of food, and the Snow Tiger Tribe won't take a woman who looks like she's about to meet the Beast God.'

'A moment ago I was lamenting my fate, but reality always loves to give you another kick when you think you've hit rock bottom.'

'There was no mistaking the look of disgust from the Snow Tiger Tribe Leader just now.'

'I just want to bury my face in my hands. This is so demoralizing.'

Sure enough, though the Beastman had tried to be subtle, his actions didn't escape the eagle eyes of a Snow Tiger warrior. "Take your clanswoman with you. Don't leave her in our tribe's territory."

Wu Yue was speechless. 'Dude, does a girl not get to have any pride?'

Anyone could see how weak the female was. She was a tiny, gaunt, and pale figure lying on the grass, her breathing shallow. She was clearly in terrible health; her chances of survival were minuscule.

The sturdy man looked at Yue with a matching expression of disgust. Yue had been weak and sickly since childhood. She had only managed to survive to adulthood because her parents were both skilled hunters and gatherers.

But this winter, Yue's Father had been mauled to death by a beast while out hunting, leaving her to rely solely on her Amu.

Then, just as winter was about to end, Yue fell ill once again. While searching for medicinal herbs, her Amu also fell prey to a wild beast's claws.

The tribe was no longer willing to support a burden who couldn't work and only consumed food, so they had unanimously decided to banish her.

The sturdy man glanced at Wu Yue—so pale and thin she was practically a skeleton—then gave a dry laugh and rubbed his hands together. "Our tribe has no intention of keeping this female, either."

'If we take her with us, we'll just have to find somewhere else to dump her. That'll delay our journey back to the tribe. It's better to just leave her here and let the Snow Tiger Tribe deal with it.'

But the Snow Tiger Tribe Leader was a sharp one; he naturally saw right through the sturdy man's little scheme.

An immense pressure radiated from his entire being, and his deep voice boomed like thunder in the sturdy man's ears. "Do not test the dignity of a Beastman! Take this female and get out of the Snow Tiger Tribe's lands!"
