Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Salary Advance

"Jiang Qin has gone too far! She's the one who hurt her sister, and now she's run away from home to force our hand!" Jiang Ruhai gritted his teeth in anger.

Meanwhile, Jiang Ruming, who was sitting on the sofa, looked a little uneasy.

She said with concern, "It's so late. With my sister out there all alone, could she be in danger?"

"What danger could a female be in?" Jiang Ruhai scoffed.

"She just doesn't want to apologize to you. She's just trying to run away to make us back down."

'That's what Jiang Yulian thought, too, which was why she was so furious.'

She had been doted on by her partners her entire life and had never backed down for anyone. To be threatened by her own child now... she would absolutely not be the one to yield.

'Anyway, females don't get hurt when they're out and about. And Jiang Qin's secondary Light Computer has a Star Coin allowance that I set, so she won't starve.'

"She just wants us to coax her into coming back, doesn't she? Absolutely not! I'd like to see just how long she can keep this up!

Ruming doesn't even blame her, yet she's still throwing a fit. None of you are to help her. I'm going to block her Light Brain Number. We'll see how long she can last out there!"

Jiang Yulian's partners remained silent. Of course, they would obey her unconditionally. After all, while Jiang Qin was Jiang Yulian's biological daughter, she wasn't theirs.

'Someone else's daughter couldn't possibly be as important as their own partner.'

Even with Jiang Ruming, whom they had raised from childhood, all the affection they showed her was merely a way to please their partner.

So the three middle-aged males present all readily agreed.

They didn't even have Jiang Qin's Light Brain Number, so they couldn't help her even if they wanted to.

The Jiang Family's other two sons had already returned to school and weren't home. As for Jiang Ruhai, he had never even acknowledged Jiang Qin as his sister.

"Ruming, you've been wronged. When she gets back, I'll make her apologize to you. I'll make her promise to never bully you again."

"Mother, I haven't been wronged. My sister... she didn't do it on purpose. Let's just forget about the apology."

Seeing Jiang Ruming be so understanding, Jiang Yulian's heart swelled with affection.

'As expected, the child I raised by my side is the good one, just like me. Jiang Qin, on the other hand, is just like her dead father—far too coarse.'

"Don't overthink it. You were just discharged from the hospital, so you need to rest. As long as I'm here, no one can bully you."

'Not even my own daughter.'

Jiang Yulian genuinely doted on her niece from the bottom of her heart, truly treating her as her own daughter.

She had few siblings, and only one older brother who shared the same father.

However, her brother had died on a spaceship years ago, and her sister-in-law had been abducted by Star Thieves, never to be heard from again.

After so many years, it was doubtful she would ever return.

Back then, Jiang Qin had been taken, and Jiang Ruming, who was only a year old, had lost her parents. So, she had taken her in and raised her as her own.

Back in her room, Jiang Ruming let the smile fall from her face.

She sat leaning against her bed in silence for a long time before using her Light Computer to transfer 100,000 Star Coins to Jiang Qin's.

She left no message.

Jiang Qin, without a Light Computer, never saw the notification. Even if she had, she wouldn't have cared. After all, in her past life, Jiang Ruming had used this exact method to keep her on the hook for two years.

She would always hurt her, only to then become the sole person in the Jiang Family who would "help" her.

Even with a second chance at life, Jiang Qin still couldn't understand what Ruming was thinking.

The next morning, Jiang Qin woke up and went straight to the bar.

It was broad daylight, so the bar wasn't open to the public. She went in through the back, where staff were busy cleaning and stocking the Inhibitors.

When they saw her, everyone quickly greeted her with respect. "Good morning, Miss Jiang."

Jiang Qin smiled back. "Good morning, everyone."

She was wearing the white dress again today. It was one of two performance outfits You Wei had provided for her. After all, she hadn't taken a single item of clothing when she left the Jiang Family.

So, even for everyday wear, this was all she had.

Today, however, she had come looking for You Wei to ask for an advance on her salary.

She had been too embarrassed to ask before she had officially started working.

But now that she was an official employee, she wanted to get a small advance—even just a few tens of thousands of Star Coins would help.

At least then she could buy some daily necessities.

"Do any of you know where the boss is?" Without a Light Computer, her only option was to come to the bar to find You Wei.

"He should be in the security office. I just saw the boss go in with Brother Kang."

"Okay, thank you."

Jiang Qin hurried over to the security office and knocked.

You Wei opened the door and was surprised to see her. "Miss Jiang? What brings you here so early? Is something the matter?"

Jiang Qin clutched the strap of her shoulder bag, her face flushing with embarrassment. "Boss, could I possibly get an advance on my salary?"

You Wei had helped her with her citizen registration, so he knew she had previously lived on a Barren Star.

At her words, he slapped his forehead in frustration.

"I'm so sorry, Miss Jiang. I meant to ask if you needed an advance, but it completely slipped my mind."

"Should I transfer it to your Light Brain Number? Or would you prefer an anonymous Star Coin savings card?"

Jiang Qin smiled. "Boss, I've already destroyed that Light Computer. I don't have one right now, so a card would be perfect."

You Wei, who had been about to use his Light Computer, paused. He thought for a moment but decided not to ask why she had destroyed it.

He only asked, "Will a one-month advance be enough? How about I give you six months' salary up front so you can buy a new Light Computer?"

"Really? Would that be okay? Thank you so much!"

"Don't mention it, don't mention it. You're too polite, Miss Jiang. It's not a gift, I'm just paying you your own salary in advance."

Faced with such a polite female, You Wei felt completely flustered.

Most Beastman females, relying on their spiritual power and the fact that males needed to curry favor with them, were generally spoiled and looked down on males.

But with Jiang Qin, he not only received respect but also her sincere gratitude from time to time. Even for an A-level male like himself, it was a little overwhelming.

You Wei didn't think he was helping her all that much. After all, a female with spiritual power would never be short on cash.

If Jiang Qin were willing, she could easily take on a "soothing" job during the day.

There were plenty of C-level and B-level males who would come begging for her services.

Her lack of money was only a temporary problem. The help he was offering now was, at best, a small favor to earn some goodwill—icing on the cake, so to speak.

With six months' salary in hand, Jiang Qin immediately went out and bought a new Light Computer. It wasn't the best model, but it wasn't bad either, and it cost her 1.6 million Star Coins.

She then quickly linked her temporary account to it and securely saved the video that would prove her innocence.

Once that was all taken care of, she finally saw the trending topics on the Star Network.

Huge Reward Offered for Copyrights to These Two Songs!

Curious, Jiang Qin clicked on it. To her surprise, it was a video of her playing the piano at the bar.

Below the video, a flood of comments from people were all demanding for the two songs to be uploaded to a music platform.

After all, songs had to be uploaded to a platform before they could be downloaded.
