Lane Yancey actually chuckled at what Vera Xavier said. He'd initially thought she was an incredibly straightforward and uncompromising girl, but it seemed that wasn't entirely true. She had a few clever tricks up her sleeve.
Right after Vera Xavier left, the phone in the principal's office rang.
