Chapter 49 - Chapter 47: Gu Jiaojiao Shines

The entire grain drying ground was covered with corn from eight hundred mu of land. The yield per mu ranged from five hundred to seven hundred jin—more for fertile land, less for poor soil.

Estimating an average of six hundred jin of grain per mu, there was a total of four hundred fifty thousand jin of grain here.

After subtracting the portion they'd processed yesterday, there were still about four hundred thousand jin left.

A large machine could thresh about eight thousand jin of corn per hour, and there were two of them. Gu Jiaojiao's small machine could handle another fifteen hundred jin per hour. At that rate, it would take about twenty hours to finish all the corn with the machines.

By comparison, it would take the several hundred villagers seventeen or eighteen days to do the same. A simple calculation like this made the thresher's advantages obvious.
