When Leng Yuan heard his wife talking about marrying one or two more, his face darkened.
"Don't talk nonsense."
He didn't want anyone else. He only wanted her.
He wouldn't trade her for any number of flatbed carts.
In truth, making a flatbed cart wasn't that difficult, just a bit time-consuming. Anyone in the village skilled with woodworking could do it as long as they had blueprints.
The problem was that blueprints were hard to come by.
But for Leng Yuan, that wasn't difficult at all.
The commune school was poor. Its desks, chairs, and benches were all broken but still in use. Leng Yuan couldn't stand it, so he decided to go into the mountains, chop down some trees, and build a new batch himself.
At first, he didn't know how to do any of this, but he started to learn and gradually grew to love it.
