Chapter 7 - Chapter 5: You Freaking Wrote a Song in Secret?

After Chen Jincheng ended the livestream, he handed an MCN contract to Jiang Xiaobai. "Sign this."

"But I already signed an employment contract!" Jiang Xiaobai said, taking the document in confusion.

"This is an MCN contract," Chen Jincheng explained. "Didn't I promise last night to make you an internet celebrity?"

Jiang Xiaobai immediately looked at the contract. Sure enough, the company listed wasn't Extreme Bar, but "Second Generation Star Media Co., Ltd."

'So the scumbag Cheng Zhen is actually going to help me break into the online world?'

A small thrill of joy went through her. She quickly read through the contract and hastily signed it.

Jiang Xiaobai handed one copy of the contract back to Chen Jincheng and asked expectantly, "So, what's my next step?"

Chen Jincheng teased, "What do you think? We'll shoot videos, of course. But after what you just said, you've pretty much confirmed that I 'loved you most before checking out.' So, you'll also have to work with me to stir up some hype. We're going to livestream a romance script."

Jiang Xiaobai flushed with embarrassment.

It wasn't that she hadn't realized what she was saying, but with over 5,000 people in the livestream, there was no way to take it back now.

Chen Jincheng continued, "Once the words are out, you can't take them back. Besides, this livestream romance script will boost your popularity anyway."

Jiang Xiaobai nodded. "So how should I play along?"

Chen Jincheng explained, "First, during the next stream, I'll vehemently deny that anything happened between us. The more I deny it, the more the fans—our 'bros'—will believe something did, and the more they'll want to dig for dirt."

"While I'm denying it, we also need to intentionally make some ambiguous little gestures that make the bros feel like they've found proof. If necessary, we might even need to get a little more intimate. I mean, we've already been 'up close and personal,' so that shouldn't be a problem, right? Let's try a little demonstration."

Hearing the phrase "up close and personal," Jiang Xiaobai's mind instinctively flashed back to the events of last night.

Just then, Chen Jincheng wrapped an arm around her waist and brought his face right up to hers. They were so close they could feel each other's breath.

Jiang Xiaobai had to admit she had a thing for good-looking faces. With "Scumbag Cheng's" face this close, it was practically criminal. 'Damn this racing heart.'

'This Scumbag Cheng, always grabbing my hand, lifting my leg, forcing me into such embarrassing positions...'

"Yes, just like that," Chen Jincheng said, letting her go. "That look in your eyes is perfect. I can see the bashfulness." He couldn't help but praise her, "Looks like you have more of a talent for this than I thought."

"But remember, the romance script is just that—a script. It's all fake. Neither of us can actually fall for it. That's the number one rule!"

"???" Jiang Xiaobai could only stare.

Chen Jincheng, however, was already silently using the Internet Celebrity Debut Card on Jiang Xiaobai. The next moment, a system notification appeared:

[Congratulations! You have successfully used the Internet Celebrity Debut Card on the target, Jiang Xiaobai. The first two videos you film of her from her previous life and upload will achieve the same level of popularity they had in that life.]

Just then, Wang Yuan, the bar's manager, walked in to report. "Boss, our luck is through the roof today! We've already got 18 tables in the main hall, and believe it or not, 7 of them are walk-ins. We've also filled 4 private rooms. Our occupancy rate is already over 30%!"

"The thing is, those walk-ins came for the early happy hour, and they're about done drinking. Our resident singer already bailed on us, so I was wondering if Xiaobai knows how to sing. She could fill in. She's so beautiful—a gorgeous DJ's debut performance would be a great gimmick. It might convince the happy hour crowd to order another round."

"Me?" Jiang Xiaobai was hesitant. "I haven't rehearsed. I'm afraid I'll mess up!" She was a skilled DJ, but she had no experience singing on stage in front of an audience.

So, she instinctively pointed at Chen Jincheng. "Speaking of gimmicks, he's the biggest gimmick here—the Ancestral Master of influencers!"

Hearing this, Wang Yuan turned to Chen Jincheng, his eyes filled with sincere hope. "Boss, can you sing?"

He wasn't completely in the dark about his new boss's background, of course.

Having an influencer make an appearance at a bar event was a huge draw.

It's just that this particular boss had apparently never sung in public before.

Chen Jincheng understood. Wang Yuan had been aiming for him from the start; asking Jiang Xiaobai was just an indirect approach.

"Alright, go get things ready," Chen Jincheng agreed. "I'll go up and sing a song in a bit."

He was also curious to see the "+100% emotional effect" attribute of the song "Trajectory."

Besides, if he wanted to make money off this song on Tiao Yin, he had to make it a hit first.

"You got it!" Wang Yuan beamed.

The boss was an influencer. Getting him to step up at a time like this was definitely the right move.

He then turned to Jiang Xiaobai. "Xiaobai, I'm going to go make the arrangements. Find out what song the boss is singing, then head to the DJ booth and get the backing track ready for him."

After Wang Yuan hurried out, Jiang Xiaobai asked Chen Jincheng, "What song are you singing? I'll go prepare the backing track!"

Chen Jincheng pulled the USB drive from his pocket and handed it to her. "An original. The backing track is on here."

"???" Jiang Xiaobai stared at him, holding the USB drive as if she'd seen a ghost.

She knew all about his "scumbag" persona. The only thing he was known for were his scumbag quotes, which his male followers treated like gospel.

After he'd ignored her and left her at the hotel that morning, she had specifically gone through his Tiao Yin account and liked every single negative comment on all of his videos. She hadn't seen a single video showcasing any talent, not even singing, let alone an original song.

'Did he grab the wrong script or something?'

Chen Jincheng was already walking out of the office. He glanced at the game interface in his mind and saw that Jiang Xiaobai's Loyalty had changed from a range of 0-100 to a solid 70.

Her status description had also changed: *A girl with great looks and a great body. Her 175cm height gives her a pair of long legs. Possesses strong talent for DJing and hyping up a crowd. She has signed a new contract and is feeling a little excited.*

As Chen Jincheng neared the main hall, he suddenly remembered something. He pulled out his phone, opened Tiao Yin, and started a new livestream.

He usually streamed on a schedule, but he never had any real talent to show off to his "bros." Now that he did, how could he pass up the chance to flex a little?

He had always treated his fans like his bros. And if you couldn't flex on your bros, what was the point of flexing at all?

Most importantly, if he wanted to make this song a hit, his fans were his best promotional channel.

In an instant, fans began pouring into the livestream:

"I've seen it all now, he's actually streaming again!"

"Cheng, you starting a stream out of nowhere is throwing me off!"

"Judging by the background, that's a nightclub. Is that Xiaobai behind you?"

"He just said they were 'just friends,' and the next thing you know, he's taking Xiaobai to a bar!"

"Straight to the bar, Cheng. You move fast...!"

"..."

Seeing the flood of comments in the chat, Chen Jincheng said with a grin, "You guys guessed it. This is a bar. I wrote a love song recently, and I'm about to sing it here. Figured I'd let all my bros listen in!"

His words sent the chat into a frenzy:

"Holy shit, Cheng, did you book a gig?!"

"He said he *wrote a song*? Did I hear that right?"

"Cheng, your script is 'scumbag,' not 'talented artist.' You grabbed the wrong script!"

"..."

Truly, all the "bros" in his fanbase were stunned.

They had been watching Chen Jincheng's streams for a long time. Many of his die-hard fans had followed him ever since his very first video: "My Girlfriend Left Me for an Old Guy in an Audi and Pushed Me into a Puddle. I Looked as Pathetic as a Stray Dog!"

Back then, they had followed him out of sympathy, sighing over another poor guy's misfortune. Who could have known that the gears of fate were just starting to turn?

With every video that followed, these die-hard fans had witnessed his entire journey, like the most loyal of disciples. But they had genuinely never, ever seen him sing or perform any kind of talent.

For him to suddenly announce he'd written a love song was completely out of left field.

But what they didn't know, of course, was that when Chen Jincheng transmigrated here, the original owner of his body didn't even have a girlfriend. The story about the girlfriend and the old guy in the Audi belonged to the Ancestral Master from his previous life. As for getting girls' contact info, those were all women he'd found and paid in advance.

It was all a script, all part of the act.

So, as his fans debated heatedly, Chen Jincheng went silent, deliberately stringing his "bros" along and stoking their curiosity.

This, too, was part of the act.

And this move only made the "bros" in the livestream debate even more fiercely.

They were getting impatient.

'What's the big idea?'

'He calls us "bro" this and "bro" that, but at the crucial moment, he just leaves us hanging.'

'Just tell us about the song you wrote already!'
