Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Cooperation

Although Tristan Grayson felt a flicker of doubt, his words remained sharp. "Who knows what a woman like you is thinking."

"What am I thinking? Tristan Grayson, search your conscience and tell me—in the three years we were married, have I ever asked you for a single cent? Have I ever done anything to betray you?" 'If she had really wanted to ruin his relationship with Maggie Monroe, she would have done it long ago, wouldn't she?'

She hadn't ruined anything. She had simply followed their agreement, signed the contract with him, become his wife in name only, and played along with his act.

Now he didn't need her anymore, and they were divorced. But why, after all that, was he still not satisfied? Why did he still have to slander her?

Hearing her words, Tristan Grayson fell silent. He didn't know whether or not he should believe the woman in front of him.

'In their three years of marriage, she really hadn't done anything to betray him.'
