Claire Sinclair stood frozen, a ripple spreading through her heart.
He had always spoken to her in a detached, official tone. It was hard to imagine the two words "Good luck" actually coming out of his mouth.
'I can't help but feel...'
'Have we gotten closer? Or is it just my imagination?'
'Wait, I almost forgot something!'
Claire Sinclair rushed after him, but he was already out of sight.
Left with no other option, she pulled out her phone to call him.
The call connected after a few moments. Claire Sinclair spoke immediately, "Mr. Quincy, there's something I'd like to ask you."
"What is it?"
"Um..." Claire Sinclair began hesitantly. "I was thinking of moving my mother's memorial tablet to... the new house. I was wondering if you would be okay with that?"
She had almost said 'our home,' but thankfully, she corrected herself just in time.
'After all, it was just my mother; she had nothing to do with him. I was afraid he would mind.'
