There was no one else in the bedroom. The decor was simple—it didn't even have a closet, just a freestanding coat rack. The bed and sheets were both white, but it didn't have the usual hotel smell of disinfectant. Instead, the air was quite fresh.
'Where is this place?'
Claire Sinclair propped herself up into a sitting position. She found herself lying in a corner, not on the bed. She wanted to stand, but her legs had no strength at all.
'Is my old illness flaring up?'
"Adrian," she called out, but no one answered.
She wanted to get her phone to call for help, but when she felt her pockets, not only was her phone gone, but her purse was missing as well. Even the watch on her wrist was gone!
'Could it be... I've been kidnapped?!'
Panic began to set in. Claire Sinclair shouted, "Is anyone there? Anybody!"
There was no response.
'What on earth is going on?'
