From their brief previous encounter, she knew that while he was proud, he wasn't one to kill the innocent wantonly.

Logically, if something like this happened, his companions should have come looking for him.

But so far, there hadn't been a single sign of any rescuers.

Besides, he was this badly injured, yet he wasn't in a hurry to return to the city to treat his wounds.

Judging by the color of the mottled bloodstains on the ground around him,

the blood had already started to dry, which meant he'd been lingering here for quite some time.

This was clearly not normal.

So, Chu Jing deduced that he had either offended someone and was being deliberately hunted,

or he had accidentally trespassed somewhere he shouldn't have, leading to his current predicament.

But she was more inclined to believe the former.

Perhaps this inference was just a kind of intuition unique to a female beast.

Chu Jing stood up and stretched lazily.

Then she leaned languidly against an ancient tree.
