Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Space Spirit Spring is a Little Sweet

So sweet!

Qin Jiao hadn't eaten for most of the day. And since she was at an age where she was still growing, she was actually already a little hungry.

But it was the middle of the night, and staying in a guesthouse meant there was nothing to eat.

But after taking a few sips of the spring water, not only was her hunger gone, but she also felt full of energy!

Qin Jiao was ecstatic. 'This spring water is a treasure,' she thought. 'Besides staving off hunger, it probably has other uses too!'

'And this space... it would be amazing if I could enter and exit freely and bring things inside!'

Qin Jiao immediately began to experiment. She focused her thoughts on leaving, and in the next instant, she was back on the hard, narrow bed in the guesthouse.

Then, she successfully brought a book inside with her.

After some experimenting, Qin Jiao was too excited to sleep. When she opened her eyes, she saw Lin Nian, who was sleeping by the door, secretly getting out of bed, draping some clothes on, and heading outside.

After a moment's thought, Qin Jiao also threw on some clothes and stealthily followed.

She realized Lin Nian was heading toward that empty room from before... the very room where she and Shen Yi had been found lying together.

In the darkness, a mischievous smile played on Qin Jiao's lips. 'Looks like Lin Nian left something behind in that room, huh?'

She thought for a second, then immediately took out an ordinary ballpoint pen and tossed it at Lin Nian's back. The very next moment, she slipped into her space.

Lin Nian, who was already on edge, jumped when she was hit. She quickly whirled around, looking everywhere, and even checked around the other corners.

Qin Jiao seized the opportunity to slip into the room and bolt the door from the inside.

By this time, Lin Nian had reached the door. She reached out to push it, only to find it wouldn't budge.

Pinching her nose to disguise her voice as a man's, Qin Jiao said irritably, "Who is it? What's wrong with you, coming here in the middle of the night!"

Hearing that the room was occupied, Lin Nian was so scared she immediately took off running.

Once she had scared Lin Nian away, Qin Jiao finally began to search the room.

Lin Nian had been so nervous. She must have been coming back because she remembered dropping something important.

But she couldn't risk turning on the lights and attracting attention, which made the search much more difficult.

Qin Jiao took out a flashlight and began searching inch by inch.

Suddenly, a voice spoke from right behind her, "Are you looking for something?"

Qin Jiao was so startled the hairs on her arms stood on end. She instinctively swung the flashlight beam around and illuminated Shen Yi's unnaturally pale face.

She almost screamed, but in the next instant, Shen Yi clapped a hand over her mouth.

They were pressed close together, just like in their previous life. Two people who clearly despised each other, yet were forced to have a child.

Lying together, bodies burning hot, but hearts turning to ice.

A faint hint of a smile flashed in Shen Yi's pitch-black eyes. "If you scream, they'll just find us together again."

Qin Jiao had already suppressed her initial fear. Besides, even though she utterly loathed the man before her, he was also painfully familiar.

She nodded, and only then did Shen Yi lower his hand.

Qin Jiao asked calmly, "Are you here looking for something, too?"

Just then, Shen Yi leaned back a little. In the darkness, it seemed he let out a soft chuckle. "Don't you think it was a little strange, the two of us being found sleeping in here together?"

Of course, Qin Jiao felt the same way. She even knew it was Lin Nian's doing.

But the point was, Shen Yi shouldn't be the one to care about something like this.

Besides, Qin Jiao had already decided to stay far away from Shen Yi in this life, yet here they were, running into each other again.

Her silence stretched on a bit too long. Shen Yi frowned slightly. "What's wrong?"

"N-nothing." 'I can't exactly say I'm just surprised you're acting so normal for once,' she thought.

Qin Jiao swore that if she actually said that out loud, he would instantly show her just how abnormal he could be. She knew him too well. After all, the two of them had clashed constantly in their past life.

Qin Jiao cleared her throat. "If there's nothing else, I'm leaving."

Shen Yi pursed his lips, then pressed something into Qin Jiao's hand. As his fingers brushed against the warmth of her palm, he said calmly, "Look at this."

Qin Jiao opened her hand. It was Lin Nian's student ID card.
