Chapter 48 - Don't Disappoint Me, Orochimaru

"I say, Simu, where exactly are we going? Can't we just find someone to kill for fun?" Hidan asked sluggishly, his back hunched and his arms swinging listlessly.

They had left the Jashin Religion headquarters five days ago and had been wandering through the woods every day since. Whenever they were hungry, Simu made Hidan go hunting or fishing.

Although Hidan had been quite excited at first, frolicking around like a Siberian Husky, he found the routine completely dull by the second day.

In response to Hidan's question, Simu adjusted his glasses and said flatly, "Rest assured, you will be able to do what you love very soon."

"Really?"

Hidan's eyes instantly lit up.

The thing he loved most? That was obviously hacking people to pieces!

Simu walked forward slowly and suddenly came to a halt in front of a massive tree.

"After all, I am not the type of person who enjoys being followed by perverts."

He adjusted his glasses and raised his foot, aiming it at the giant tree.

This scene left Hidan looking completely dazed. His "CPU" was so burnt out that he couldn't understand what Simu was doing at all.

Just as Simu's attack was about to land, the ground beneath his feet suddenly became muddy.

"So you've finally shown yourself?"

The corners of Simu's mouth curled slightly.

In the next second, a figure emerged from the muddy soil, wielding a long sword and thrusting it precisely toward Simu's heart.

"Oh? An enemy has appeared?"

Hidan immediately snapped out of his lethargy the moment the unexpected event occurred. He swung his three-bladed blood scythe, which instantly extended like a long snake. The sharp, crescent-shaped blade bypassed Simu and pierced through the attacker's back like a tiger's tooth!

Blood spread rapidly across the muddy ground.

"Damn it..."

Several more figures emerged. They were clad in plate armor and vaguely surrounded Simu and Hidan.

"This is Lord Orochimaru's base. Trespassers will die!"

The leader shouted coldly at the two, seemingly attempting to drive them away.

However, he was clearly overestimating his influence. Such a threat could not cause even a ripple of emotion in Simu's heart.

"Hidan, I'll leave these guys to you."

Simu waved his hand, and his raised foot finally descended.

Boom!

The giant tree and the ground shattered simultaneously, revealing a hidden entrance within.

Without a second thought, Simu leaped directly into the opening.

As for Hidan, he rested the three-bladed blood scythe on his shoulder and licked his lips.

"Trespassers will die, huh?"

He looked playfully at the six shinobi surrounding him and said with a laugh, "Unluckily for you, the thing I fear least is death!"

Seeing Hidan's crazed expression, the six men's faces immediately turned solemn.

"You lot deal with this guy. I will chase the other one. We absolutely cannot let him destroy Lord Orochimaru's property."

The leader made quick arrangements.

"Yes, sir!"

After giving the orders, the leader moved swiftly, heading straight for the entrance with a Body Flicker Jutsu.

"If I let you go in, I'll be mocked by that guy, you know~"

Hidan's teasing voice drifted over, followed by a violent and rapid whistling sound in the air!

The three-bladed blood scythe extended once more, tearing through the air with brute force as it slashed toward the enemy.

The subordinate of Orochimaru turned pale and hurriedly formed hand signs.

"Earth Style: Earth Spear!"

His skin petrified rapidly, becoming as hard as rock.

Despite this, he could not withstand Hidan's terrifying strike. Almost at the instant of contact, the massive force ripped him in half as if he were being bitten by a horrific beast!

Before dying, the shinobi's face was filled with intense resentment and disbelief.

Hidan pulled back his hand, and the extended blood scythe retracted quickly, landing back in his grip.

The Koukaku-forged scythe trembled slightly under the nourishment of the blood, as if cheering and jumping for joy at the taste of it.

Hidan stuck out his tongue and tasted the blood at the corner of his mouth, revealing a sliver of a smile. "Now it's your turn. Are you ready... to be sacrificed to Lord Jashin?!"

The sounds of fighting and wailing from above did not affect Simu in the slightest.

If that waste Hidan managed to get killed by a few of Orochimaru's subordinates after mastering an Immortal Body, five elemental nature transformations, and multiple Kagune, Simu could only say he deserved it.

But that was clearly impossible.

As Simu descended, the dark, hidden underground passage finally revealed itself before him.

The walls and floors of the passage were inscribed with converging curved patterns, and darkness shrouded everything in the unknown.

"Playing tricks."

Simu's expression remained unchanged as he walked directly into the depths of the passage.

At that moment, a gust of cold wind swept toward him.

"My lord, have you truly decided to make an enemy of Lord Orochimaru?"

A woman's voice echoed through the darkness, carrying a hint of timidity but mostly sounding a warning.

"If you leave now, I can plead for mercy on your behalf before Lord Orochimaru."

"Heh..."

Hearing this, Simu couldn't help but laugh out loud.

He had thought he was a professional who wouldn't laugh no matter how funny something was, but...

"I am actually quite interested in Orochimaru's skills in raising dogs."

With that, eight crimson Rinkaku pierced through the darkness like lightning.

Blood splattered.

The woman in the darkness let out a piercing scream. Her hands and feet had already been skewered by the Rinkaku.

"How... how is this possible..."

She opened her mouth. She had clearly performed an evasion maneuver just now; why hadn't her body moved?

"If you were trying to dodge, my insects might not have agreed."

The faint light reflected off Simu's glasses, turning into a cold glint.

Having been reminded, the woman hurriedly looked down at her feet.

Without her noticing, her legs had been completely covered by a dense swarm of black insects.

These insects were tiny, like fine iron sand, but their combined weight was enough to keep her feet from moving.

Due to the darkness, she hadn't noticed these insects that had long since merged with the shadows.

"No... please no..."

In the darkness, her eyes widened to their limit and then contracted.

A sensation like an electric shock spread from her feet upward until it covered her entire body. Then, they crawled into every possible opening in her body.

"Ah!!!"

A heart-wrenching wail was cut short before it could travel far, as her open mouth was filled with insects.

"Lady Shana..."

In the shadows, more figures watched this scene, their faces full of disbelief.

After all, Shana was almost the strongest among all the test subjects in this base.

Yet even she was utterly defenseless before this man!

Sensing the presences in the darkness, Simu gently adjusted his glasses and said flatly, "Since you love watching the show so much, I'll let you experience the pleasure of the insects as well."

His gaze was as calm as water, but the darkness suddenly erupted. Countless insects surged like a tsunami, filling and stuffing the entire passage in an instant!

They left behind only the desperate, blank faces of those in the dark.

The swarm slowly dispersed, and Simu walked straight into the base.

"If Orochimaru's base is only at this level, then I will be very disappointed."

To be honest, Orochimaru was the first and only person Simu had seen in this world so far who possessed the desire to seek the Truth.

Therefore, he had used his crows and Black Beetles, spending several months to finally discover a few of Orochimaru's bases.

It would be a pity if his works were limited to this.

"Don't disappoint me, Orochimaru."
