It incorporated portions of the Gedo Mazo's genetic code, allowing it to absorb Tailed Beast chakra while effectively masking the fluctuations of that energy. Consequently, even the sensory ninja of the Hidden Sand Anbu were unable to detect its presence; if they sensed anything at all, they would merely dismiss it as a common insect.
The Blood Spirit Insect then transported the chakra to a hidden outpost protected by a chakra barrier. This type of barrier could block prying eyes from sensory ninjutsu. Only within such a barrier could the One-Tail's chakra be released without being detected by the Hidden Sand Anbu.
Soon, countless Black Beetles swarmed from the insect nest within the outpost. They devoured the exhausted Blood Spirit Insect, becoming the new vessels for the Tailed Beast chakra. During the transfer process, a small amount of chakra leaked out, but under the shroud of the chakra barrier, this leakage went unnoticed by the Hidden Sand ninja.
The following steps were relatively simple. These fast-moving Black Beetles quietly carried the chakra out of the Hidden Sand Village, crossing the desert at high speeds to reach a base Simu had established within the Land of Wind. The entire process functioned like a precise machine. Aside from the initial Food Pill, it was nearly impossible to link any part of the operation back to the Spider Lily Company.

To facilitate his research, Simu had established several bases within the Land of Wind, and they were currently located in one of them.
This was the most important location in Simu's Land of Wind layout because it housed a Blood Pool Clone, which could satisfy most of his research needs. Other bases merely stored supplies that Simu could activate as needed or use as temporary safe houses during a retreat.
Of course, the "retreating" part mostly applied to Hidan. As for Simu, there was no real need for him to retreat. If Hidan possessed an Immortal Body, then Simu was simply a clone—dying meant nothing more than losing a single body. Compared to the life or death of a clone, Simu cared far more about his research data.
As for why Hidan was locked up... it was simply because the guy was too reckless. As soon as they arrived in the Land of Wind, he started clamoring to go to the Hidden Sand Village to duel the Fourth Kazekage. This is exactly why it is so difficult for a Jinchuriki to control Tailed Beast power. On one hand, the Tailed Beast instinctively resists the Jinchuriki using its strength. On the other hand, the intense consciousness within the chakra deals a massive blow to the Jinchuriki's psyche. If one blindly uses Tailed Beast chakra without special training, it will likely cause the Jinchuriki to fall into an uncontrollable berserk state.
Furthermore, the quality of Tailed Beast chakra far exceeds that of ordinary chakra. If a normal ninja's chakra is pig iron, then Tailed Beast chakra is steel; the two are simply not on the same level.
