Chapter 140 - Chapter 140 - My Wife is Gone

The Overseer of Schicksal descended upon the den of demons in the Far East.

However, his arrival caused not a single ripple.

Otto had brought Yae Sakura to St. Freya Academy in complete secrecy, without notifying Theresa.

Because he was a bad grandpa.

And he was here to do bad things.

Supporting the weak-kneed Yae Sakura, Otto began to suspect that he was her secretary, and she was the young mistress he was paid to serve.

This fox was just too pathetic.

He never expected Yae Sakura to have a fear of heights, but it made sense. For a country girl, the sky was an unknown domain.

Still, her body is so soft.

And she has much more meat on her bones than Fu Hua.

Concealing their presence, Otto led Yae Sakura to the underground chapel of St. Freya Academy. He had to dispose of what was inside.

Otto had already used his Overseer authority to access the data on this place. The underground chapel was indeed the work of the previous Otto.

But it had been a deliberate setup.

Theresa had been played like a fiddle by her grandfather her entire life.

From her upbringing to her rebellious phase.

For the current Otto, however, this was evidence that needed to be destroyed.

They stood before the chapel's magnificent doors, which exuded an air of solemnity. Yae Sakura, having mostly recovered, was no longer leaning on Otto but stood behind him, watching as he entered the password.

The wide, heavy doors slowly slid open.

Yae Sakura held her breath.

As a miko, she was a spiritual practitioner of the Far East, and she could feel the oppressive weight of the atmosphere within.

Otto's gaze, however, remained calm.

As the doors opened, the chapel's interior was revealed, filled with a miasma that seemed impossible to disperse, illuminated only by a faint fluorescent glow.

Otto looked ahead, and his eyes fell upon a series of glowing cylinders flowing in the darkness.

His breathing faltered, his eyes trembled. Behind him, Yae Sakura's eyes widened as if she were witnessing something impossible.

Within the underground chapel were cylindrical experiment pods filled with a transparent nutrient fluid. And suspended within that fluid, a breathtaking figure was outlined.

A cascade of white hair like a waterfall shimmered like moonlight, floating ethereally in the gently swirling liquid.

Beneath bangs like a beaded curtain, slender eyebrows curved like the crescent moon. Her eyes were closed, her nose was high and elegant, and her glistening pink lips were like cherry blossoms kissed by dew.

Her delicate, beautiful face was like snow and jade, with a hint of mature charm and a faint, melancholic air that radiated a charisma that made one want to risk everything to protect her.

Her figure was slender and graceful, her waist as supple as a serpent, her abdomen exquisitely sculpted. Her fair, slender legs glowed faintly, and her delicate toes, as tender and smooth as freshly peeled lychees, were curled slightly.

Cecilia Schariac was sleeping peacefully.

Like a saint.

Inspiring no profane thoughts.

Otto's mouth fell slightly agape, his mind reeling as if stunned by this soul-stealing beauty.

But his gaze quickly moved on.

Otto looked at another experiment pod.

Inside, another Cecilia Schariac lay suspended.

In fact, every single experiment pod in the underground chapel contained a Cecilia Schariac.

These were all clones of Cecilia.

They were the trump cards the original Otto had prepared specifically to push Theresa into raising the flag of rebellion.

And Otto's purpose here today was to eliminate every last one of them.

"This is…"

Yae Sakura was astonished. Why were there so many identical people here?

Even quintuplets couldn't explain this.

Hearing her voice, Otto turned his head, a smile on his face.

"These are all clones."

"The original person died long ago."

Otto briefly explained the concept of clones to Yae Sakura. She nodded with partial understanding. So, these were clones that Otto had created.

But then, she suddenly asked.

"Have you… made a clone of Kallen?"

"Yes."

Otto's answer was brutally simple.

As his secretary, Yae Sakura would inevitably come into contact with Theresa and Amber. It was better to clear the air now.

"But very few of the clones produced are able to develop their own consciousness. And besides, it wouldn't be the real person."

A clone of Kallen…

Yae Sakura nodded numbly.

This method couldn't bring Kallen back.

What was created was just a false copy.

Then why would Otto make them?

Yae Sakura was confused, but she didn't ask. She felt she wouldn't understand the answer anyway, given how difficult it was for her to even grasp the concept of a clone.

"Then why are we here?" she asked.

"We're here to destroy them. They have outlived their usefulness," Otto said with a smile. He walked to the control console and entered his Overseer command to gain the highest level of clearance.

Yae Sakura simply nodded at this explanation and stood behind him.

Cloning was a violation of human ethics, but Yae Sakura didn't particularly care. She held no great sense of justice in her heart, nor was she some champion of righteousness.

In this, she was just like Otto.

She only wanted to protect the things she cared about.

This was also why Otto had made her his personal secretary.

The termination sequence initiated. Otto watched all the Cecilia clones, his expression turning one of complete indifference.

Otto allowed his divinity to surface.

Divinity suppresses humanity; divinity is indifferent to life and death.

Otherwise, watching so many Cecilias be destroyed would have unsettled him.

Even if they were just clones that had never gained sentience.

If they had sentience, that would be a different story. He could have raised them. But these were merely soulless vessels.

Yae Sakura watched Otto's back.

For some reason, she felt that the aura around him had changed.

It made her, a miko, feel an urge to kneel and worship.

The nutrient fluid in the pods churned violently. All the clones disintegrated. In an instant, the pods were empty.

The divinity gradually receded. Otto looked at the empty pods, and a wave of sorrow washed over him.

He only sighed.

It still left a bitter taste in his mouth.

But this was a sin he had to bear as Schicksal's Overseer.

All the sins of the past Otto would be shouldered by him now.

He would take them on; he would bear their weight.

No, I need to think of something happy.

Think about Fu Hua's lips, Fu Hua's waist, Fu Hua's hips… think about everything that is Fu Hua.

Then, Otto remembered one of his usual ways of amusing himself.

He looked at the system panel and chose to send a delirious message to old Yang.

[Welt Yang, have you eaten?]

After his daily harassment of Welt, Otto let out a wicked chuckle. He then operated the control panel, deleting all the remaining data in the facility.

Yae Sakura watched quietly the whole time, taking in everything Otto did.

In truth, however, she didn't understand any of it.

"Alright."

Once everything was done, Otto clapped his hands and led Yae Sakura out of the underground chapel.

As the chapel doors slowly closed, Otto did not alter the defense measures. Einstein had left a backdoor in the system, but Otto left it in place.

Because Anti-Entropy might just try to invade St. Freya, and Einstein might try to use the contents of the chapel as a bargaining chip with Theresa.

He wondered what kind of expression Einstein would make when she found the chapel completely empty.

A pity. Since he was planning to take Kiana with him, it seemed he wouldn't be able to watch that particular show.
