Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 --Opening

Li Rong woke up unusually early.

For him, this was rare. After all, today was the official opening of his shop—the first day of business—and even someone as lazy as him knew better than to treat it casually. After washing up, he swept his gaze over the shop interior once more. Everything was in place. Clean, orderly, functional.

All that was missing were customers.

With a trace of anticipation he couldn't quite suppress, Li Rong opened the door.

Outside, a crowd had already gathered.

For a moment, he felt a faint sense of novelty. Watching people cluster around his shop, whispering and speculating, he suddenly found himself looking forward to this new identity—shop owner, task issuer, faith harvester.

Before long, two figures arrived together.

Ning Fengzhi, Sect Master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, and Sword Douluo, Chen Xin.

Judging by their speed, the two of them likely hadn't returned to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School the previous night and had instead rested directly in Heaven Dou City.

Stopping in front of the shop, they glanced at the exterior. The decorations were plain, the location unremarkable, and the shop itself wasn't large. Yet the mission notices posted outside were something neither of them had ever seen before. That alone was enough to spark Ning Fengzhi's interest.

The two entered one after the other.

Inside, the layout was simple to the point of austerity. A long counter stood at the front, with a rocking chair placed before it, where the shop owner appeared to be resting. To the left was a square wooden table meant for guests—yet there was no tea, no fruit, nothing to suggest hospitality. Three chairs with backs were neatly arranged beside it. On the left and right walls hung two large crystal screens, densely packed with text and images, clearly displaying bounty missions and tradable goods. The crystal screen directly facing the entrance was blank, its purpose unclear.

Ning Fengzhi frowned slightly.

Apart from the crystal screens, there was nothing noteworthy about the shop's decor.

Noticing that Li Rong showed no intention of greeting customers, Ning Fengzhi didn't ask questions either. He walked directly toward the crystal screens.

The left screen listed bounty missions.

As Ning Fengzhi read through the entries one by one, the corners of his mouth twitched uncontrollably. Known as the richest man in the world, and with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School famed for its treasure collection, he was confident in his breadth of knowledge.

Yet here… he had never heard of a single item.

Red Sun Pill: Fifth-grade pill. Used for body tempering and strengthening physical constitution.

Bounty: 223,000 sacrificial coins.

Seven-Colored Moon Orchid: Fifth-grade herb. Grows only in spiritual lands rich in energy and balanced in the five elements. Blooms exclusively on full-moon nights.

Bounty: 161,000 sacrificial coins.

Taiyi Green Flower: Rare fifth-grade spiritual herb. Used to refine pills that enhance reaction speed and bodily agility.

Bounty: 189,000 sacrificial coins.

Wood Spirit Three-Needle Flower: Sixth-grade herb, among the most precious in the world. Rumored that once pierced and absorbed, it allows one to experience the five flavors of life.

Bounty: 586,000 sacrificial coins.

Qirong Tongtian Chrysanthemum: Sixth-grade herb, Yang-attribute, neutral nature. Can be used to refine body-strengthening pills or consumed directly for physique enhancement.

Bounty: 600,000 sacrificial coins.

Xiusui Pill: Fifth-grade pill. Cleanses marrow, improves aptitude, and has a chance to evolve one's Spirit. Maximum evolution: Super Spirit.

Bounty: 360,000 sacrificial coins.

Ning Fengzhi took a slow, deep breath.

At this point, he was already suspecting that the shop owner had fabricated nonexistent items purely to appear mysterious. The other items were one thing—he hadn't heard of them anyway. But this Xiusui Pill…

Who would dare list something like this?

His Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda had long reached its limit. Advancing further was nearly impossible. If the Spirit's quality could be improved—even by ten percent—he was confident he could break through the shackles and step into the rank of an eightieth-level Spirit Douluo.

That single level gap between seventy-nine and eighty was not trivial—it was the difference between worlds. Especially for a top-tier auxiliary Spirit like his. With only seven rings, he was already recognized as the strongest auxiliary Spirit Master alive. If he reached the eightieth level and gained another ring…

Even Ning Fengzhi didn't dare imagine how terrifying his support abilities would become.

For thousands of years, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School had searched relentlessly. They had never found a stable method for Spirit evolution—not even reliable records. Occasional rumors of Spirit evolution surfaced, but none could be replicated or applied to the Pagoda itself.

Over time, Ning Fengzhi had nearly given up hope.

And now, this shop casually claimed that a pill could do exactly that.

He forcibly calmed himself and continued reading.

The remaining bounties were focused on pills, herbs, and rare refining metals. All rewards were paid in "sacrificial coins," a currency clearly exclusive to this shop.

After a moment's thought, Ning Fengzhi moved to the crystal screen on the right.

The first line of text hit him like a thunderbolt.

Soul Doubling Pill: Sixth-grade pill. Rare spirit power enhancement pill.

Requirement: Minimum ninety-first level spirit power to consume.

Effect: Increases spirit power by 1–3 levels. Lower initial level yields better results.

Notes:

– Cannot break through to the hundredth level.

– Requires strong self-control. Failure risks meridian destruction.

– Ineffective if the Spirit has inherent defects.

– One pill per person. Second consumption yields negligible effect.

Original price: 900,000 sacrificial coins

Discount price: 480,000 sacrificial coins

Remaining stock: 3 pills

Ning Fengzhi didn't even look at the rest.

If this pill was real, he would obtain it—no matter the cost.

Sword Douluo was already ninety-sixth level, the acknowledged strongest offensive Spirit Master alive. If he advanced even two more levels, he would reach ninety-eight. Combined with Ning Fengzhi's support, there would be no opponent on the continent.

For centuries, only two individuals had ever reached the ninety-ninth level—and those figures were nowhere to be found today.

What if Sword Douluo advanced three levels…

Ning Fengzhi's breathing became erratic. His desire surged almost visibly, making Li Rong inwardly marvel as the system interface quietly opened. Faith values skyrocketed, rising uncontrollably.

Sword Douluo was the first to steady himself. He stepped forward and supported Ning Fengzhi's arm.

"Fengzhi."

Ning Fengzhi gripped his hand tightly, took several deep breaths, and finally regained control. He turned toward Li Rong and bowed deeply.

"Esteemed sir," he asked directly, "how does one obtain these sacrificial coins?"

Li Rong abandoned his act of resting and stood up.

"By completing bounty missions," he replied, "or by trading rare minerals, precious herbs, ten-thousand-year Spirit Bones, unique cultivation manuals, pills, or rare spirit tools."

Ning Fengzhi's heart sank.

No gold coins.

The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School's greatest advantage was suddenly irrelevant. And judging from the bounty list, even their treasured collections might not meet this shop's standards. Ten-thousand-year Spirit Bones and rare spirit tools were the only reliable bargaining chips.

As for the Seven Apertures Exquisite Heart manual—it wasn't exclusive, nor was it offensive. Its value was uncertain.

And Sword Douluo's self-created Seven Kill Sword Technique?

That was absolutely untouchable.

Letting such a technique fall into another's hands would be disastrous in a life-or-death battle.

That would be trading away a mountain to pick up gravel.
