Chapter 28 - Chapter 27 : The Snow Empress was a heaven-born entity with no race

For now, the early stage was weak....but the growth potential was terrifying.

Once he reached Level 30, everything would change.

Morning mist blanketed Sea God Island.

After meeting Yan Shaozhe, the two departed immediately.

Yan Shaozhe pulled out a flight-type soul tool, glancing around guiltily before activating it.

Su Wen's eye twitched.

"If you use soul tools yourself," Su Wen asked lightly, "why oppose the Soul Tool Department so fiercely?"

"They want to steal our funding," Yan Shaozhe replied with a grin.

"The academy's resources are one pie. If they take a bigger slice, we get less."

"Besides, using soul tools doesn't mean agreeing with them. This Level-8 flight soul tool was bought from the Sun Moon Empire....not made by our own department."

He snorted.

"They dream of competing with the Sun Moon Empire? With what....hope? That empire spent thousands of years building its foundation.

And they think Qian Duoduo alone can close the gap?"

"Pure fantasy."

Su Wen fell silent.

From the Martial Soul Department's perspective… he wasn't entirely wrong.

But Yan Shaozhe was undeniably shortsighted.

After the Ming Dou Mountain disaster, Mu En would push for mass adoption of soul tools...yet Yan Shaozhe would still stubbornly object.

So while his logic sounded reasonable, Su Wen kept his skepticism.

Shrek Academy lay nestled within the Star Dou Forest.

To reach the Extreme North, there were only two routes.....north or south.

South meant crossing the Ming Dou Mountains and passing through the Sun Moon Empire. Too dangerous.

So they headed north.

Within half a day, snow appeared on the horizon.

Soon, a city emerged.

"An Yang City," Yan Shaozhe explained.

"The northernmost mid-sized city of the Dou Ling Empire.

This is where human territory ends. Beyond this point lies the Extreme North."

Su Wen's gaze sharpened.

They had arrived.

Mm."

Su Wen gave a small nod.

His gaze swept across the snow-covered city before him.

Even under the noon sun, the cold lingered stubbornly.

Buildings stood in dense rows, their rooftops layered with thick snow.

In the courtyards of several luxurious estates, servants were busy shoveling paths clear.

Pedestrians on the streets were bundled in heavy coats, each breath turning instantly into pale mist.

Taverns dotted the city everywhere, most of them serving the same local specialty.

snow pork, often paired with malt liquor.

Su Wen and Yan Shaozhe casually picked a tavern, ordered two plates of snow pork with ale, and chatted while waiting.

"Have you decided on the species for your second soul beast?" Yan Shaozhe asked.

"Ice Jade Scorpion," Su Wen replied calmly.

In theory, a martial soul could strengthen gradually with cultivation....but that pace was far too slow.

Gale was the perfect example. Turning an ordinary wind attribute into Extreme Wind was no short-term feat; without reaching at least Soul King level, it was nearly impossible.

Gale's potential was immense, but its early stage was undeniably weak.

The Ice Jade Scorpion clan, however, was born with Extreme Ice.

And the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion had pushed that attribute to its absolute limit.....the Ice Empress herself was living proof.

In the original timeline, an absurdly powerful divine-grade technique—Ice Explosion—had even emerged from the soul bone of a seventy-thousand-year Ice Jade Scorpion.

When judging a soul beast's bloodline potential, one only needed to ask a single question

Does the race produce top-tier beings?

Among the Three Sovereigns of the Extreme North

The Snow Empress was a heaven-born entity with no race.

The Titan Snow Demon King belonged to a clan so rare that encountering one without months spent in the core region was almost impossible.

But the Ice Empress?

She stood among the strongest soul beasts on the entire continent.

The choice was obvious.

As for Iceworms?

Su Wen dismissed them entirely.

If one wanted spiritual power, Evil Eye Tyrants existed.

Tianmeng Iceworm had only reached his level through absurd luck and resource stacking.

Hand those same resources to an Evil Eye Tyrant, and it could probably bully even Di Tian.

Tianmeng: But spiritual soul beasts can't fight!

Evil Eye Tyrant: Say that again?

The only question was whether the Ice Jade Scorpion could evolve beyond the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion.

Worth looking forward to.

The server brought over two steaming plates of snow pork, glossy and fragrant.

Su Wen sliced off a piece, dipped it in sauce, and took a bite.....his eyes lit up.

While the grilling technique couldn't compare to Aunt Lu's, the meat itself was exceptional.

No wonder it was famous even in the original story.

Ning Tian scanned her surroundings with a slight headache.
