Chapter 3 - chapter 3 : A Monster

The darkness emerged from nowhere, opening Jack's body. Regenerating his heart, he rose like a dead man. He slowly approached Joël. Joël backed away, terrified. He started bleeding from the nose. He looked Joël straight in the eyes. "Your power is truly terrifying," he said.

He started kicking Joël with his feet. "Your power is very, very, very powerful. Normally, I'm supposed to be almost invincible against any type of magic or spell."

I need it, I need your eyes. Then he forcibly stopped Joël, removing his right eye. Joël screamed in pain. Then he removed the left one. Joël screamed in pain.

Jack observed his eyes attentively. "Very interesting," he murmured, a cruel smile spreading across his face. He held Joël's eyes in his hand, examining them as if they were precious objects.

Joël, blind and injured, lay on the ground, unable to move or react. He could only feel the pain and terror that overwhelmed him.

The second Jack had the eyes in his hands, they stopped functioning. Jack said, "What's this scam?"

On the other side, a voice whispered in Joël's head: "Open it, open your eyes." He immediately opened them. His new eyes appeared, brighter than usual, more powerful.

He looked at his target. Jack started spitting blood, vomiting, and his left eye exploded.

In Jack's consciousness, he said, "But this is really a monster. I'm supposed to be almost invincible for a minute after each death. I only have five lives left."

Joël's eyes looked straight into his, as if he was superior to him. Jack felt growing terror, realizing he was facing an opponent far more powerful than he had imagined.

"No, no, no," he murmured, understanding his fate was sealed. Joël's eyes continued to stare at him, as if they were the only ones seeing the truth: that Jack was already dead, and he was just delaying the inevitable.

Joël thought to himself that he had to die. Jack would know. Maybe there's a solution for your cursed eyes. Joël replied, "What is this solution?"

Jack: "There's a witch who lives far from here. They say she can cure all kinds of curses and diseases."

Joël: "Where is she?"

Jack: "No one knows. But you can find her in the forbidden places, in a merchant's house."

Joël looked at him, but Jack lowered his eyes in fear. Then Jack stopped his head and looked straight into his eyes. Jack died again.

Joël went deeper into the forest and said to himself, "I almost died today. I must be stronger."

Joël walked for an hour. He said to himself, "The animals avoid this forest because of me. There's a smell of rotting flesh in the air." Then he lit a fire. And near the rotting flesh, it was grilled, to burn.

Joël begged and said, "This is what I was taught." And after that, Joël left and hit a tree with all his might. He kept hitting the tree, hitting it again and again, hitting harder until blood came out of his hands. Then he stopped, and screamed, "Why? Why me?"

He went deeper into the forest. On the other side, Jack got up and said, "Ah, that kid is a real monster." And he returned to the city.

Joël, on the other hand, played in the forest, trained, hit trees, ate rotting flesh and cockroaches. He hit trees, trained... And a year passed.

That day, on the full moon, something that had never happened before happened. All the souls of the dead bodies in that area gathered and formed a monster.

Joël, on the other side, was gathering twigs, or small wooden sticks, and said to himself, "There's something strange."

Suddenly, he went to see what was happening. That's how he stumbled upon a monster, which represented all the spirits of the people who had died in the forest.

Joël was terrified by its ugliness. The monster looked at him, and Joël felt a shiver down his spine. He was unable to move, paralyzed with fear.

But to his great surprise, the monster didn't move. It stayed there, motionless, as if it was waiting for something...

The monster had no defined shape, it was a weird black color, and words seemed to be written on its body. And Joël heard voices, whispers of reproach: "You killed me, you killed us."

These voices echoed in his head, making him tremble with fear. Joël stared at the monster, unable to react.

The monster approached him, and Joël tried to defend himself with his fists, but it had almost no effect. The monster was too powerful, too strong.

The monster entered Joël, and he felt an atrocious pain, as if his body was being torn apart from the inside. He was being killed slowly, without being able to do anything to stop it.

The voices in his head became louder, more insistent: "You killed me, you killed us..." Joël felt his body weaken, his vision blur. He was going to die, and he knew it was the end...
