Chapter 1 - Doctor House Call

Dr. Anya Sharma wasn't your typical veterinarian. She had a gentle touch, an uncanny ability to soothe distressed animals, and a quiet life in the sleepy town of Everglen. The animals loved her and always seemed to relax in her presence. The townies would call the pet whisperer because regardless of the species she would have the same effect on them. But one misty night, as the fog curled around her clinic, a sound unlike any she'd ever heard pierced the silence—a melodic, almost pleading meow, resonating with an otherworldly magic. Sounds of a jingle bell echoed in the area.

Anya, always drawn to the unusual since adolescence, found herself irresistibly compelled to walk towards the sound. The call seemed to tug at her very soul, making her feel she is in desperate need, leading her through the swirling mists and into the ancient woods bordering Everglen. For a long time she was told as a child that no one was allowed to travel through the forest at night as it was forbidden. Many had gone missing and so they outlawed it. The forest floor glowed faintly, and the air thrummed with an unseen energy. Finally, she reached a clearing over the famous crystal lake of Everglend bathed in ethereal light. The water shimmered in different colors. She heard the sound of the cat meow again and the jingle bell.

Without a second thought, Anya stepped into the water. As she got deeper she noticed that the different color lights were from an entire world that looked like it was underwater. What she didn't know was that she was actually stepping into a portal to a new world. Her world dissolved around her as she fell into the portal, replaced by a landscape of tall grass, towering trees, vibrant flowers, and skies painted with colors she'd only seen once during her visit to the northern lights. But the beauty of it all was spoiled by the sounds of conflict—roars, snarls, and the clash of metal. She had arrived in the Beast World, right in the heart of a raging war.

Beastmen of all shapes and sizes clashed in brutal combat. Lionmen warriors fought against massive bearmen. There was no telling what caused it, just that they were at war. Anya was petite and agile. She dove under one of the shields that was laying around. But as a massive, scarred wolf-man lunged towards her out of instinct to rip apart anything moving that didn't have an ally's scent. But he couldn't bring himself to hurt her. He has an instinct to protect her. She gave off the smell of a pup. One of his own. Confused because he would know if he had any pups. He was not yet mated and it was not possible for the beastwomen to have kids due to the high stress they have been exposed to due to war. Anya was afraid and covered her head and said, "please don't hurt me." The wolf beast then looked around and got closer to sniff her. He then said, you need to get out of here. You are in the middle of a battlefield. Hurry, get on." He had shifted into his beast form. Anya was still scared, and hesitantly got on top of him. He said, "Hold tight and don't let go no matter what happens."

Then suddenly as they made their way swiftly through the battlefield a wave of pure, healing energy emanated from Anya, washing over the wolfman and instantly began closing his wounds. He felt rejuvenated and pleased that he didn't notice he was wagging his tail.

Then Anya heard the sound of the meow and jingle bell. She got off the wolf who had taken her to his dwelling for protection. The border guards didn't sense Anya because she smelled like a pup and she was so small they took her for a bag tied on the wolfman like a monkey. Anya was pulled by the sound towards a hut. The wolf man that was waging his tail finally noticed she was on her way to the alphas mate hut. She was going through an extremely high risk pregnancy that the Alpha would rip anyone apart if they bothered her. By miracle a miracle she was able to conceive in such stressful times, that it was a high priority to keep her in a calm state for a healthy birth.

Again, another jingle bell was heard, but this time louder and towards the hut. Anya kept walking. The wolfman tried to stop her before she made it through the entrance that was covered by a large cotton sheet, but he missed her wrist by a hair. She made it in and he couldn't go past the entrance or his scent would be left inside, then the Alpha would also not like another male near his mate.

On a large sofa was a female in pain. She had her pregnant belly out and she felt like she was going to die. She looked at Anya as she was panting for air and said, "who are you?" Before Anya could respond the female fell asleep from her pain. Anya heard the heart beat inside the belly and was drawn to instinctively touch it. In that instant. The healing energy began to spread over the pregnant lady.

The pregnant lady woke up feeling better, and relaxed. She felt a zen feeling with Anya around. Something she hadn't experienced before. She smiled at Anya and asked her, "what is your name?" Anya then broke out of her trance and realized she was asked a question. Then she said, "I am doctor Anya"
