Chapter 66 - Chapter 66 – Gate Eight: Gate of Death!

ROAR!!

With a blast of white mist a white tiger burst from Guy's hands and slammed toward Madara.

Brilliant white light flooded the screen.

BOOM—!!

The view pulled back; a colossal tree in the distance smoked as if struck.

That's the God Tree—the Eye of the Moon Plan has succeeded. Black Zetsu quivered with excitement; he had no interest in the duel, but the tree's appearance thrilled him.

Its emergence meant his plan in the video was almost complete.

What terrifying taijutsu, Kisame Hoshigaki muttered, genuinely stunned by Guy's ferocious body techniques.

This supposedly declining Konoha still hides such a monster?

Impressive taijutsu, Uchiha Itachi admitted, surprised Guy wielded such power; he'd assumed the man was only Kakashi's equal. Clearly he'd been holding back.

Edo Tensei—that's Konoha's Yellow Flash. Has Orochimaru sided with Konoha? Sasori focused on the reanimated Minato Namikaze, still haunted by Orochimaru's Edo Tensei from their past fight.

But can an attack like that really beat Uchiha Madara, the man who rivaled Hashirama? Hidan wondered.

On-screen—

BOOM—!!

Madara stepped back, face blank and unmarked; the strike hadn't scratched him.

The view shifted: the once blue-steam-shrouded Might Guy now lay embedded in stone, eyes closed, apparently unconscious.

No one knew what counter he'd faced, but his state shocked everyone—he'd opened the Seventh Gate, putting him at Kage-level, yet Madara had still knocked him out cold.

At that moment the Ninja World grasped a hint of Madara's terrifying power; the two were on completely different planes.

Whoosh—!!

One of the nine black orbs behind Madara shot toward the unconscious Guy.

Not good! the armless Minato thought. I'll have to deflect the orb and use Flying Thunder God again.

Kakashi—Kunai! Minato spat a Kunai aside.

Roger!

Kakashi caught it and instantly hurled it.

Argh!!!

A boy who looked eighty percent like Might Guy—same clothes, same haircut—burst in wreathed in green steam: he too knew the Eight Gates.

He yelled, grabbed Guy,

BOOM—!!

and with a thunderous crash carried him toward Kakashi.

Gaara's eyes widened. Rock Lee?!

Lee set Guy down in safety; by then Guy had regained consciousness.

You okay? Kakashi asked.

Guy, cradling his right arm, replied, Just my right arm and a few ribs broken.

Kakashi fell silent, staring skyward where Madara hovered. Even our last hope—taijutsu—was useless. What now?

He's… too strong.

Those words filled the viewers—especially those from the Naruto World—with despair.

Wait, Kakashi! Guy interrupted, clutching his arm. It's too soon to write off taijutsu!

But… you just failed, Kakashi wanted to say.

Our youth hasn't faded, Guy declared. Don't give up hope.

"Teacher Guy." Rock Lee didn't know what to say.

Might Guy clenched his fist, looked up at Uchiha Madara, took a deep breath and said, "Wishes don't always come true, but without a wish, how can you ever do what you want to do?"

"Just like the challenge I made to you."

Kakashi's pupils shrank; he seemed to remember something.

"Let's settle this, Kakashi!" young Might Guy called to him.

"And I'm doing this, not to show off." Might Guy's voice was calm as he clenched his fist.

"You—! Don't tell me—!" Kakashi's eyes widened in shock; he sensed what was coming.

Might Guy turned his back to Kakashi and said solemnly, "The Blue Beast of Konoha vanishes today—time for the Red Beast to appear!"

"You're not going to open the final Gate of Death, are you?" Kakashi exclaimed.

"Guy, don't!" Minato Namikaze, arms lost, hurried to stop him. "Think! Everyone here—no one wants you to do this! Your father would surely—"

"No. This is my wish," Might Guy answered, unshakable.

"Teacher Guy! Do you really believe it's already come to that?" Rock Lee tried to stop him too.

He who also possessed the Eight Gates knew exactly what opening the Gate of Death meant.

"Lee, don't make that face." Might Guy peeled off his vest, gave Lee a big thumbs-up and grinned. "This time, Stand aside and watch—with a smile!"

With that, green steam rose from his body as he sprinted toward Uchiha Madara above.

While running, he jabbed his thumb against his heart.

The view switched to Madara's; he watched Guy and thought, "Chakra is gathering at the death-point."

From Madara's perspective everyone could see the Chakra converging on Guy's heart.

Once it reached the heart, the green steam began turning red.

Running, Guy shouted, "Eighth Gate—Gate of Death!"

The instant he yelled, the green steam flared into crimson.
