Chapter 8 - 8. Leading a team

Tang Miao had always been able to use a single Star-Orbit, but his talent was simply too monstrous. That's why no one knew about it except Tang Yue. However, if he wanted to get a job and make money now, he had no choice but to reveal a bit of it.

A Commander-level sea monster fish, with the people in their team and himself, might not be impossible to instantly kill. After all, his second-tier Lightning magic was already on par with the first-tier Intermediate Fire magic. This had been tested with Tang Yue.

The muscular man was so shocked he could barely close his mouth, looking at Tang Miao with immense awe and extreme envy. He couldn't understand how such a person could exist in the world. A Lightning magic user with an innate Spirit Seed was one thing, but to also have an innate talent? How was anyone else supposed to live? After a moment of shock, the muscular man said, "Kid, although I don't know your situation, you are still too young. I really can't take you out of the safe zone. I don't have enough strength to guarantee your safety. If something were to happen to you, wouldn't I become a sinner?"

If he were to take such a talented person out of the safe zone and couldn't bring him back, he would truly become a sinner. After all, when demons are rampant, how important is a genius to the country? Clearly, this muscular man still had some sense of responsibility.

Tang Miao felt a bit helpless and eventually had no choice but to leave.

The other party was doing it for his own good, even though he didn't need it. But since he had already been rejected like that, staying and arguing further was useless. After leaving the Hunter's Hall, Tang Miao went to search a few other places. However, there were no bounties in Modu that a Novice Mage could participate in... and the City Demon Hunting Team was still the same.

Tang Miao couldn't help but admire the power of the protagonist's halo. Mo Fan, a Novice Tier-1 Lightning Mage, could already earn money, while he, a Tier-2 Mage, couldn't.

Of course, the location also played a part.

In a small city like Bo City, there were only a few High-level Mages.

But in Modu, let alone High-level Mages, there were quite a few Super-level Mages.

Ultimately, a somewhat disappointed Tang Miao had no choice but to obediently return to school... Although there were no peerless beauties on campus, the sight of fair, slender legs along the way was still quite a feast for his eyes.

"Tang Miao?"

Just as he was about to head to the training grounds, his homeroom teacher, Li Li, called out from behind him. Hearing her, Tang Miao stopped.

"Teacher Li Li."

Li Li swayed her small, round hips as she walked over and said, "Didn't you ask for leave? Why are you back?"

Tang Miao shrugged and replied, "Sigh, it's a long story!"

It was the first time Li Li had seen Tang Miao so dejected, and she felt a little curious as she asked, "What happened? You actually have moments when you're down in the dumps!"

Tang Miao thought for a moment, then finally recounted his interview experience from that day.

After listening to Tang Miao, Li Li looked at him in disbelief and asked, "Are you really short on money?"

"Nonsense!"

"With your talent and the support of the Disciplinary Committee, are you kidding me?"

Li Li said, disbelievingly. After all, Tang Miao was sent by the Disciplinary Committee. Now he says he's short on money? How could that be! Who would believe it? "I think you might have misunderstood. I have nothing to do with the Disciplinary Committee. Otherwise, would I need to look for a job now? And would I have been assigned to your class?"

At this moment, Tang Miao finally felt the pressure of entering society.

It seemed no different from his previous life!

If you want to live a glorious and decent life, you have to put in a certain amount of effort. However, before getting a graduation certificate, even if you put in effort, there's nowhere to apply it!

Li Li pouted a little angrily, then playfully slapped Tang Miao and said in a huff, "What do you mean, if I had connections, I'd still be assigned to your class? You're so annoying!"

Although the students she got at the beginning were indeed mediocre, was it because of her incompetence? It was clearly because she started working relatively late... Tang Miao was too lazy to think about these things anymore. Looking at Li Li, he said, "Speaking of which, you took off directly because of me. Don't you think you should treat me to a meal?"

"No!"

Li Li huffed softly, then pushed Tang Miao aside and walked towards the teaching building.

On the way, Tang Miao thought about ways to quickly improve his strength and arrived at the training ground. Just as he was about to meditate on his Ice magic, he suddenly paused... because he suddenly thought of a way to solve the problem! That was to focus on one element first, wouldn't that work?

It really seemed that there was no need to cultivate both elements simultaneously!

Before, he had only thought that Mo Fan cultivated both, so he had always cultivated both elements together. However, if he focused the time spent on two elements on just one, the effect would be completely different!

Once he understood this, Tang Miao began to meditate with peace of mind. As long as he reached the Intermediate level and could take on bounties, with an income, would he still worry about his cultivation speed?

However, Tang Miao didn't choose Lightning first, but rather Ice. After all, while Lightning was indeed powerful, its cultivation speed was extremely slow... With the domain, Ice's attack power was also completely formidable... Time flew by quickly, and summer vacation arrived once again. This time, in the magic test, Tang Miao was still firmly in first place. And in half a year, his Novice Ice magic had already reached the third tier. However, to break through to the Intermediate level, without any high-level resources, it was just a pipe dream...

If it were normal cultivation, even though his speed was already very fast, even several times faster than others.

But for Tang Miao, it was still not enough. Moreover, constant cultivation without actual combat certainly wouldn't work either.

So, taking advantage of the summer vacation, Tang Miao returned to the village. He secretly took the Totem Snake and left the place.

The Totem Snake usually chose to guard here, but he had no other choice. To improve quickly, combat was the only option. Otherwise, why would so many people enjoy gaining experience?

However, it was definitely not feasible for him to go out and gain experience alone. In the land of demons, even a team could face danger, let alone a Novice Mage like him.

So, although he knew this shouldn't be done, as long as he didn't take the Black Totem Snake away for too long, the problem shouldn't be too big.

Half a day later... Tang Miao brought the Black Totem Snake to the area outside the West Fortress. If it weren't for the Black Totem Snake, he really wouldn't have been able to get out... This time, Tang Miao's training target was the Clawed Plague Rats. These demonic rats were known as the weakest existence among demons. With Tang Miao's strength, dealing with them was naturally not difficult. The reason he brought the Black Totem Snake was to be prepared for any eventuality. If he encountered Commander-level rats, or if a lineage of White Demon Eagles from the West Ridge came to hunt for food, he would be in great danger...
